Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center Dental Hygienist - Per Diem in Seattle, Washington
The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), located in Seattle, Washington, is part of a dynamic collaboration among three organizations known nationally and internationally for their patient care and research: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington, and Seattle Children's. Over the past 25 years, these institutions have worked together to support their mission of adult and pediatric oncology patient care services, research and education.
Perform all functions related to roles and responsibilities as a clinical dental hygienist in the management and periodontal therapies of medically complex patients, including but not limited to oral assessment (mucosal, dental, periodontal), dental prophylaxis, scaling and soft tissue curettage, topical and local anesthesia, radiographs, fluoride varnish and subgingival antimicrobials as directed by Oral Medicine Attending Providers and under rules and responsibilities governed by Washington State Licensure.
Provide patient/family education, motivation and support relative to oral hygiene, oral complications and their management and post treatment guidelines and recommendations.
Annual licensure renewal with appropriate continuing education requirements, compliance with all Washington State and SCCA rules, regulation and educational requirements including but not limited to Blood Borne Pathogens, General Education, HIPPA, Integrity and Compliance, JACHO.
Assess patient medical condition and current medical status.
Assemble all information required for patient intake.
Assess patient oral condition relative to the medial condition and status .
Perform limited head and neck assessment.
Perform oral assessment (mucosal, dental periodontal, oral hygiene).
Perform topical and local anesthesia, dental prophylaxis, dental scaling, soft tissue curettage, expose radiographs, apply fluoride varnish, topical and subgingival antimicrobials.
Provide oral hygiene instruction, oral complication and management information, post treatment guidelines and recommendations.
Perform other tasks/ responsibilities as required ( form completion, room turnover, phones and assistance as needed)
Washington State Dental Hygiene License
BLS AHA Health Provider Card (or equivalent course, such as by the American Red Cross) and renewal required every two years (BLS PSV required by law for this position)
5 years of clinical hygiene experience
