Summary:

The Dental Assistant will assist the dentist in expanded-duty dentistry while maintaining a positive, courteous climate for patients and employees. Work in partnership and joint accountability with other team members to achieve Neighborcare's Mission, Guiding Principles, Service Commitments, and Goals.

Core responsibilities:

  • Set up and break down rooms practicing appropriate infection control

  • Provide chair side assistance by setting up instruments, materials, and appropriate anesthetic for scheduled procedures; including but not limited to, exam, restorative, extractions, root canals, crowns, hygiene, sealants, etc.

  • Anticipate and appropriately respond to patients, needs under dentist's supervision

  • Communicate dental procedures and postoperative instructions to patients

  • Take digital x-rays

  • Properly pass instruments while maintaining a sterile field and appropriate safely standards

  • Mix materials

  • Place rubber dams, matrices, and wedges

  • Follow universal precautions and sterilization processes

  • Take and pour impressions

  • Clean and oil hand-pieces

  • Prepare the clinic for next day's work schedule and patient appointments

  • Schedule appointments for patients in the EHR system

  • May provide supervision of or training for students who are assigned to Neighborcare Health as part of their professional education

  • May be required to work at different Neighborcare locations

  • Other duties as assigned by Lead Dental Assistant or Clinic Manager

Eligible candidates have completed an accredited Dental Assistant program and have a current Dental Assistant - Registration or Dental-Assistant-Certification with the Washington State Department of Health.
