Description COMPANY: Milliman, Inc. POSITION: Data Scientist (#DATAS008564) WORK LOCATIONS: 1301 Fifth Avenue, Ste. 3800, Seattle, WA 98101 Permitted to work remotely, reporting to our Seattle, WA headquarters, from a state where Milliman is registered to do business. JOB DUTIES: Design and develop data-quality monitoring solutions within the life insurance and annuity domain. Contribute to R&D activities related to advanced statistical modeling, machine learning, and data visualization. Own and contribute to model review activities including GLMs, tree-based models, and advanced neural networks. Develop analysis and modeling results in a reproducible manner and present these to a broad audience - both internal and external. Support the design and development of a portfolio of web applications built using the Shiny web application framework for R. Build data-review pipelines using Azure Databricks and R Shiny. Architect and automate processes for data extraction, transformation, and loading. Lead proof-of-concept projects in areas of account take-over fraud in the insurance industry. Travel regionally up to 10 percent of the time. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, or a related quantitative STEM field Two years of experience as a Data Engineer, Data Analyst, Application Analyst, Software Engineer or related occupation. Experience in each of the following: R and Python Application development using R Shiny Secure REST API development, data models, and cloud computing SQL, Database Schema building, and Snowflake Working with large insurance datasets, data wrangling, and distributed statistical analysis Applying software engineering principals Building Machine Learning models for regression and classification using Apache Spark distributed data processing framework Willingness to travel regionally up to 10 percent of the time Requirements may have been satisfied concurrently. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 37.5 hours per week. of $85,000 to $173,000 per year.
