Milliman Data Science Intern in Seattle, Washington

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop R scripts for data preparation and data analysis

  • Develop data visualization and interactive graphics solutions

  • Support in statistical and machine learning model development

  • Document and communicate analysis and modeling results

Skills and Requirements:

Required education:

  • MS degree student in a computational field (e.g. Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics/Mathematics, Computational Finance, etc.)

  • Substantial educational concentration in computing and statistics

Required skills:

  • Intermediate programming skills in the R language for statistical computing (including experience with the tidyverse suite of packages)

  • Experience with SQL and data retrieval

  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment as well as independently with minimum supervision

  • Ability to take ownership of a technical challenge and see it through to a successful conclusion

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred skills:

  • Experience with RStudio Shiny web application framework

  • Proficiency in Python

  • Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS

  • Experience with cloud computing (Azure, AWS, Google)

  • Knowledge of machine learning algorithms

  • Passed one or more Society of Actuaries (SOA) actuarial exams
