Jacobs Data Protection Administrator (DPA) in Seattle, Washington

Responsible for safeguarding sensitive data, including monitoring data transfer, implementing security measures, and conducting risk assessments. Data Protection Administrator (DPA) may provide input on the design and implementation of Data Loss Prevention (DLP) technology tools. The DPA will be responsible for receiving notifications when protected data is attempted to be transmitted, tracking and logging event details, and providing user notifications.

Part of protecting data will include supporting legal hold activities through the use of using EnCase Information Assurance software. Activities consist of preserving and collecting electronically stored information (ESI) in response to litigation, investigations, or regulatory requests. The DPA works closely with the legal department, IT department, and external counsel to ensure compliance with legal obligations and best practices.

Awareness of how to protect data can be accomplished through training. The DPA will be responsible for creating awareness around cybersecurity and phishing campaigns and working with the company learning/training team and communication team.

Location: Remote in the United States

Responsibilities:

  • Working with vendors to implement and support DLP technology, including troubleshooting

  • Experience with implementing and managing Microsoft Purview solutions

  • Maintaining DLP technology, configuring policies, and compiling reports for analytics

  • Monitoring and responding to alerts generated from DLP systems and other technologies

  • Working with the Incident Response, HR, and Legal teams to escalate and respond to potential or real incidents

  • Collaborating on the DLP rule development lifecycle including policy development, response rules, and maintenance

  • Provide education and awareness around cybersecurity and phishing

  • Design and execute phishing simulation campaigns throughout the year to test and educate employees

  • Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding cybersecurity awareness and training-related questions

  • Collaborate with the communications team to promote cybersecurity awareness articles in the weekly newsletters

  • Use EnCase information assurance software to create, manage, and monitor legal holds across various data sources, such as email, cloud, mobile, and network devices.

  • Coordinate with IT department and external vendors to ensure proper installation, configuration, and maintenance of EnCase software and hardware.

  • Perform data collection and preservation tasks using EnCase software and other tools, such as forensic imaging, hashing, and verification.

  • Document and track all legal hold and data collection activities, including custodian identification, notification, acknowledgment, and compliance status.

  • Assist with data processing, review, and production tasks using EnCase software and other platforms, such as Relativity, Nuix, or Concordance.

  • Stay updated on the latest developments and trends in EnCase software, e-discovery, and information governance.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and educate employees on information security practices.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.

  • Experience with implementing Microsoft Purview solutions

  • Experience with Proofpoint training solutions to create phishing campaigns and annual security training administration.

  • Minimum of two years of experience in administration of EnCase information assurance software for legal hold and e-discovery purposes.

  • Certification in EnCase Certified Examiner (EnCE) or EnCase Certified eDiscovery Practitioner (EnCEP) preferred.

  • Knowledge of legal hold and e-discovery best practices, standards, and regulations, such as the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP), the Sedona Principles, and the EDRM.

  • Proficiency in other e-discovery tools and platforms, such as Relativity, Nuix, or Concordance.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
