Job summaryThe Amazon Devices-Demand Planning team is seeking an outstandingData Engineer. As Data Engineer, you develop, review technical design of and enhance data management solutions supporting our demand forecasting models and reporting tools. You should be an expert in the architecture of data warehousing solutions using multiple platforms. You should excel in the design, creation, management, and business use of large data sets. You should have excellent communication skills and ability to adjust communication to different groups of stakeholders in order to be able to work with business analysts and engineers to determine how best to design the data management setup. You will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable extract, transform, and load (ETL) processes to support the rapidly growing and dynamic business demand for data, and use it to deliver the data as service which will have an immediate influence on day-to-day business decision making.Key job responsibilitiesThe Amazon Devices-Demand Planning team is seeking an outstandingData Engineer. You will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable extract, transform, and load (ETL) processes to support the rapidly growing and dynamic business demand for data, and use it to deliver the data as service which will have an immediate influence on day-to-day business decision making.Core Responsibilities:Continually improve ongoing processesCollaborate with scientists and BIEs to deliver high quality data architecture and pipelinesManage AWS resources including EC2, Redshift, EMR, etc.A day in the lifeContinually improve ongoing processesDrive Data Architecture for Devices Demand Planning.Drive Data Infrastructure and best practices for data pipelines.Collaborate with SDEs, scientists and BIEs to deliver high quality data architecture and pipelinesManage AWS resources including EC2, Redshift, EMR, etc.About the teamData Engineering team within Demand Planning is a new function and we will be working towards standardizing and streamlining data architecture and data infrastructure for the team.3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar roleExperience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelinesExperience in SQLAdvanced SQL and query performance tuning skillsKnowledge of data management fundamentals and data storage principlesKnowledge of distributed systems as it pertains to data storage and computingExperience building data products incrementally and integrating and managing data sets from multiple sourcesCoding proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g. Python, Java).Experience of systems engineering to optimize integration of data service solutions with data infrastructureExperience using business intelligence reporting tools (Tableau etc.)Proven success in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe data modeling decisions and data engineering strategyThe pay range for this position in Colorado is $120.7k - $160k/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
