POSITION PURPOSE Serve as a team member, performing custodial tasks to maintain cleanliness and care of facilities. Provide customer service for residential students and conferees.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cleaning and sanitizing kitchens, dining rooms and offices in accordance with established procedures and standards.

  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, shower rooms and fixtures in accordance with established procedures and standards; refill restroom dispenser.

  • Sweeping, moping and vacuuming floors; emptying wastebaskets, trash and recycle containers; replacing light bulbs.

  • Dusting and cleaning walls, doors, windows, woodwork, furniture, etc.

  • Stripping, cleaning, buffing and applying finish to floors; using high-speed floor buffers/polishers; vacuuming and cleaning carpets.

  • Using and maintaining assigned power equipment and hand tools such as a vacuum, broom, mop, squeegee, or ladder for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets and furniture.

  • Vacuuming furniture, drapery and walls.

  • Securing building when facilities are not in use by checking for unlocked doors and windows; reporting unauthorized occupants.

  • Set up and take down equipment such as chalkboards and easels and furnishings such as folding chairs and tables needed for meetings, conferences and events.

  • Follow written and/or verbal instructions regarding the use of chemicals, supplies and equipment; comply with safety policies and procedures.

  • Report need for repairs and maintenance.

  • May operate high-pressure washer.

  • Perform cleaning and related duties in areas within a reasonable distance from buildings using hand-operated tools or small power equipment to remove snow or debris, or to sweep sidewalks or stairs.

  • Drive University vehicles to deliver items and commute to various HFS locations in or around campus.

  • Perform related duties as required. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Physical ability to do required work. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to work nights.

  • Ability to understand and produce written and verbal instructions in English.

  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate in a variety of situations.

  • Work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Successful as a Custodian or housekeeper.

  • An eye for detail.

  • Dedication to a high level of customer satisfaction.

  • Possession of a valid State of Washington Driver’s License. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
