The Husky Health Center has an outstanding opportunity for a Custodian to join their team. POSITION PURPOSE

Under general supervision, perform custodial tasks to maintain cleanliness and care of facilities within assigned areas. This position performs an essential function; therefore, the incumbent should make every effort to report to work if the University suspends operations because of severe weather, natural disasters, or other emergency conditions.

Position is 50 – 80% FTE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Clean and sanitize exam rooms, restrooms, and fixtures in accordance with established procedures and standards; refill all exam room and restroom dispensers • Dust and wipe staff offices and waiting room furniture; sweep, mop or vacuum floors; empty wastebaskets, trash, and recycle containers; replace light bulbs • Dust all window blinds throughout the building on a weekly basis • Clean, mop, and dust all building stairwells • Maintain upkeep and cleanliness of the laundry room • Strip, clean, buff and apply finish to floors; use high-speed floor buffer/polishers; vacuum and clean carpets. Assist with any special floor cleaning as necessary. • Use assigned power equipment and hand tools, such as a vacuum, broom, mop, squeegee, and ladder, to clean and generalize floors, walls, carpets, and furniture. • Lock and unlock the building; secure the building when facilities are not in use by checking for unlocked doors and windows; report unauthorized occupants and occurrences. • Follow written and/or verbal instructions regarding using chemicals, supplies, and equipment; comply with safety policies and procedures. • Reports need for repair and/or maintenance. • Ability to move furniture, equipment, supplies, and tools on an incidental basis while performing some cleaning duties. • Assist with inventory and ordering of supplies. • Perform cleaning and related activities around the exterior of the building using hand-operated tools or small power equipment to remove snow, leaves, or other debris, including sweeping the sidewalk or stairs. • Perform related duties as required • Maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions in auxiliary units, such as the Pharmacy, Employee Health, Community Standards and Student Conduct, and the UWMC laboratory areas.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Physical ability to do required work

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Competitive candidates will possess experience that demonstrates: • Ability to follow, understand and produce written and verbal instructions • Ability to effectively interact and communicate in a variety of situations • Work independently with minimal supervision. • Successful as a Custodian or housekeeper. • An eye for detail • Able to use a computer for e-mail communication and access the HR management system (e.g., Workday). • Dedication to a high level of customer satisfaction
