The Counseling Services Coordinator position is designed to manage student affairs, advising, recruiting and administrative duties for the two master of accounting programs at the University of Washington—Master of Science in Taxation (MST), and Master of Professional Accounting (MPAcc). The position requires independent decision making and strategic, forward-thinking approaches to maintaining and improving all non-academic aspects of the programs. The Counseling Services Coordinator should be prepared to work with and find new ways to streamline old processes, improve the student experience, and help to promote the program. They will be required to make independent decisions in advising and counseling prospective students and keep informed of resources both on and off campus to assist prospective student sin their academic, professional and personals endeavors. As a member of the Graduate Accounting Programs Office, you would work together with us as we continue to build and sustain an inclusive, equitable and diverse work environment; and to develop experiences for our students where diversity is celebrated and valued. RESPONSIBILITIES: Academic Advising and Recruitment • Work closely with the Director on post-admit processing and preparation for orientation to provide a smooth transition from applicant to student. • Counsel students experiencing academic and personal problems and make referrals to appropriate campus resources when necessary. • Maintain and update and oversee student records and data, including documentation of students’ interactions, in relevant institutional systems (SDB, MyGrad, Radius, etc) accurately and in a timely manner • Serve as a liaison to MPAcc/MST faculty regarding academic planning, schedules, events, textbooks, and classroom support. • Conduct on-boarding 1/1 meetings with all students and setup periodic advising and student success check-ins. • Clear students for graduation. • Meet with prospective students, in person and/or via email, to introduce them to the programs and give them an understanding of the admissions requirements. • Assist with the development of promotional materials used for attracting more applicants to the programs. • Research and gather data from various sources that can be used for promotional materials. • Communicate with other universities and departments within universities, such as Beta Alpha Psi and career and advising centers, to make them aware of our programs. Students Affairs • Assist with planning and execution of the graduation ceremony for both MPAcc and MST. • Work with Academic Directors to produce new student orientations. • Manage social and academic events • Work with the Career Center to help with employment recruiting and placement. • Oversee and contribute MPAcc/MST social media accounts as assigned by Director. • Manage MPAcc/MST quarterly class schedule and produce calendar for current students. • Process and monitor student course enrollments, tuition charges and scholarship allocations. • Develop and manage students’ surveys for program assessment and reporting purposes. Administration • Make purchases and managing expense reports following University policies and procedures. • Collect data for statistical purposes such as AACSB accreditation. • Take minutes at advisory board and faculty meetings. • Assist Directors with processing admissions applications. Lead Responsibilities: Admissions, Events, Scholarships, Registration, Advising MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree in business, social sciences, education or related field and three years working with students and/or alumni in a recruiting, admission, marketing or administrative environment. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. DESIRED EXPERIENCE • Familiarity with CRM programs. • Some understanding of the field of accounting. • Event coordination/planning experience. • Knowledge of University of Washington policies, procedures, internal systems and software applications. • Familiarity with working with a diverse student population. • Experience working within a complex organizational structure and managing relationships across multiple departments and levels within an organization. • Understanding of data and statistical analyses. • Excellent attention to detail. • Strong customer service skills. • Experience with budgets/expense reports. Working Conditions: This position will be sharing an office with their direct supervisor, the Director of Student Services for MPAcc/MST.
