Description A prominent services company is looking to grow its team by hiring a Controller through Robert Half. In this leadership role, you will manage an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, you will plan and direct all accounting operational functions, manage the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assess accounting and internal control systems, and guide departmental staff. The Controller position is a permanent opportunity in the Seattle, Washington region.

Major responsibilities

  • Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports

  • Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Assess deliverables of self and team to verify they meet client expectations

  • Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective

  • Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis

  • Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed

  • Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques

  • Flexible in completing tasks beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals

  • Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies Requirements - Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills

  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to retain complex work directions

  • Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines

  • Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Excel

  • Strong attention to detail

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • CPA/MBA preferred

  • Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment

  • Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required

  • Strong communication and social skills and able to receive criticism well

  • Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus
