Job Description:

The Oracle Data Cloud (ODC) Deal Team is responsible for driving the contract strategy and execution of business development initiatives for the ODC Global Business Unit (GBU).

Deal Strategists work on the ODC’s most complex and strategic deals. They will directly negotiate highly complex contracts directly in-partnership with key business team stakeholders and customers.

Deals Strategist work closely with the, Deal Solutions, Go to Market, Legal and Privacy, Product and Operations and business approver teams in structuring, reviewing, negotiating, and managing the end-to-end contracting process.

A successful candidate shall exhibit transactional and business advisement acumen, balance multiple priorities simultaneously, participate in and/or lead cross-functional discussions, and influence internally for successful outcomes. They exhibit extreme ownership to the resolution of successful outcomes.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Own the strategy development and tactical execution on designated [JS1] complex and often “non-standard” deals throughout the deal’s lifecycle.

  • Provide strategic and tactical deal leadership to stakeholders

  • Be the central commander for highly complex deals

  • For deals they own, the Deal Strategist is to serve as the point of contact for contract negotiations and internal deal issue resolution across the various teams, Product Strategy, Product Marketing, Sales, Business Development, and Compliance Teams etc . [JS2]

  • Be creative and solutions-oriented; Deal Strategists are entrusted to find solutions to non-standard deal requests that align with business objectives and KPIs.

  • Reduce cycle time of a deal from opportunity to execution.

  • Actively partner with multiple business units, gather deal input, lead business discussions and gain consensus among stakeholders.

Desired Skills:

  • 7 years of Business Development, Contracting, or Sales experience working in the tech / software industry. Ad-tech / SaaS / tech licensing experience highly preferred.

  • Must be an effective communicator with “C-suite” executive teams internally and externally

  • Work collaboratively with and influence cross-functional teams (Product Strategy, Product Management, Sales, Legal, Deal Solutions [JS3] , Finance) to deliver successful business outcomes that are consistent with corporate risk policy.

  • Is a driven executor, exhibits extreme ownership of resolution of problems and positive outcomes

  • Has Strong negotiation and relationship skills; Advance experience working with commercial contracts.

  • Bachelor’s degree, advance degree (JD/MBA) is highly preferred.

  • Strong time management and prioritization skills; ability to manage multiple, time-sensitive projects simultaneously.

  • Quick learner – ability to absorb concepts day to day, outside of structured training sessions.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills and a willingness to learn and share their knowledge with others.

  • Self-starter and ability to execute day-to-day with limited supervision.

  • Travel up to 25%.

[JS1] There are complex deals that DS works on … don’t want to leave the impression that DS operates on routine deals.

[JS2] Without some caveat this will be a run with DS. DS needs to be the POC for deals they own.

[JS3] For deals the Strategist consults on, they need to collaborate with DS.

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Determines and/or implements Corporate/local pricing policy.

Assist with reviewing and approving transactions. Monitor incoming transactions. Provide support to the LOB on transactions. Ensure approval requests are timely, complete and accurate. Coordinate with Legal, Contracts, Finance, Risk Management, and LOB as appropriate to maintain and post business practices, policies, and procedures.

Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization.
