The Garrigan Lyman Group Content and Social Media Copywriter (Freelance) in Seattle, Washington

The Garrigan Lyman Group (GLG) is seeking a content and social media copywriter. The content and social media copywriter works across all of the firm’s client work to develop ideas and write copy for social media platforms and digital experiences. In this role, you will develop content and copy for organic social posts, paid social ads, landing pages, and display ads. You use social media daily, are tuned into cultural trends, enjoy collaborating with a team to come up with new ideas, and can write in different brand voices and tones depending on the client. You are looking to build a career as a copywriter in a firm or agency.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with the brand and experience team as well as the media team to brainstorm and develop content ideas for campaigns, themes, and content calendars.

  • Translate an overarching campaign or idea into content for social media platforms.

  • Write copy that is in our clients’ brand voice and tone.

  • Research topics, themes, and social media influencers relevant to your work.

  • Collaborate with the larger teams to create visual content (photo and video shoots).

  • Stay on top of social media trends, digital trends and innovations, and other cultural trends.

  • Understand and use best practices and specifications for creating content and copy for social media platforms.

  • Ensure accuracy and quality of all content and copy produced.

  • Manage multiple deliverables on time and within budget.

    Job Skills and Experience

  • One to two years as a social media coordinator or copywriter, or other experience in social media and communications (college graduates with a strong copywriting portfolio are also encouraged and welcome to apply)

  • Experience developing social media content for a company or brand

  • Ability to write in different tones of voice

  • Strong knowledge, use of, and passion for social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Pinterest, etc.

    Required Education and Experience

    This position typically requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited program as well as one to two years of experience working as a copywriter or social media coordinator. Experience writing for the web and the ability to create video and image assets is a plus.

    Work samples or an online portfolio showing copywriting samples is required.

    Please note: We are currently working remotely three days a week and in the Seattle office two days a week.
