UW Medical Center- Montlake 4NE Medical/Surgical unit has an outstanding opportunity for a part-time (36 hours per week), night shift, PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN. The 4NE nursing staff provides excellent nursing care to those medical/surgical patients who are acutely ill and in varying stages of recuperation from diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical intervention. The nursing staff delivers specialized care for patients requiring the skill and knowledge for the general surgery, thoracic surgery, neuroscience (medical and surgical) and otolaryngology patient populations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides direct and indirect care to patients and their families under the general supervision of the Registered Nurse
Assists patients with activities of daily living
Helps maintain a safe environment of care
Prepares patients for surgery
Provides close observation for confused patients
Helps with patient transportation
Assists with maintenance of equipment and supplies
Performs various clerical tasks
PCTs may serve in several roles, including, Constant Observer and General Unit PCT
REQUIREMENTS Nursing Assistant-Certified (NAC) with the State of Washington.
AND
High School graduation and six months experience involving direct patient care or customer service in a health care setting; OR equivalent education/experience.
LEGAL REQUIREMENT
A Washington State Health Care Assistant, Level “A” certification is required within 6 months of employment. (This certification is required to perform venous blood withdrawal procedures and capillary blood glucose checks, and can be achieved through successful on-the-job training.)
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT
Valid BLS/CPR Card successful on-the-job training.
