The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology serves as a regional resource for clinical laboratory services required for patient care, research and educational programs in laboratory medicine. Our Laboratory Medicine and Pathology Department has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time, evening shift, CLINICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN 2.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Track and resolve problems regarding specimen quality, including labeling, stability and tube type with HC1. Refers technical questions to AD MLS or Setup MLS Lead
Support the monitoring and training of new employees and students and assessing status at the completion of the training
Perform blood culture volume monitoring quarterly and prepare data for sending to responsible areas
Responsible for inventory of reagents in setup
Prepare quality control on media or for reagents when the CLT Lead is not available
Train in inventory and purchasing for when the CLT Lead is not available
Review procedures and documents in Media lab to ensure they are up to date. Able to do minor edits of procedures. Review any major procedure changes. Able to keep the printed back up for all manual up to date
Help create the annual competency quizzes and any new procedure quizzes
Perform all the functions of a CLT 1
REQUIREMENTS: An Associate Degree from a Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program including courses in chemistry and biology OR equivalent education/experience.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Offers for employment are contingent upon education and certification verification. Equivalency evaluation required for non-US trained personnel by an approved foreign credentialing agency It will be necessary to work in other departmental locations in order to meet patient service requirements, especially at Harborview Medical Center. In addition, less frequent work effort will be required at other UW School of Medicine locations (e.g., South Lake Union) and Seattle-area healthcare institutions
