Responsibilities
Observes and engages directly with clients to provide a safe environment.
Leads therapeutic recreation and support groups to encourage independence and client social skills. Develops and adapts individual counseling care plans based on results of clients’ evaluations. Monitors, evaluates, and records client progress relative to goals described in the
counseling care plan. Conceives, develops and implements activities and/or programs.
Acts as a liaison with community providers. Makes referrals for services through external agencies/organizations as appropriate.
Provides end of life counseling and support for clients and families.
Provides crisis intervention, including de-escalation and behavior management, with clients involved.
Completes paperwork to meet program and DSHS expectations.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree Social Work, counseling, or a related field, or equivalent required. Registration as an Agency Affiliated Counselor by the state of Washington required within 60 days of hire. Also required are: excellent interpersonal skills; excellent communication skills; excellent case management and time management skills; skill in using PC and software (e.g., MS Office); ability to respond appropriately in stressful situations.
Preferred: Three years' experience in a counseling capacity, including experience serving as a part of a multi-disciplinary team serving minority populations, and populations with issues of chemical dependency and mental health. Position does not involve chemical dependency counseling. Working knowledge of grief, bereavement, dementia, and end of life care a plus. Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred.

$32.56 - $48.23 /hour
