Harborview Medical Center has an outstanding opportunity for a Dental Assistant to join our Otolaryngology and Oral Maxillofacial clinics.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Full-time, 100% FTE, 40 hours per week

Opportunity to provide career growth DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION: Our Otolaryngology clinic assesses and treats patients with routine and complex disorders, conditions and cancers of the ear, nose, throat and related structures of the head and neck. Our highly-trained surgeons, speech pathologists, nurses and support staff work hard to provide each patient with individualized treatment and information to support the healthiest outcome possible. We also provide diagnosis and treatment for voice and swallowing conditions, sleep surgery, and complete audiology services, including diagnostic hearing evaluations and advanced hearing aid technology.The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic at Harborview provides comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth and facial regions. These conditions include impacted teeth, oral pathology, facial trauma, head and neck infections, maxillofacial reconstruction/implants, dentofacial deformities and temporomandibular joint disorders. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Attendings, resident physicians and nursing staff by performing delegated tasks that involve direct patient care; technical procedures or monitoring that may be invasive and require skills validations; transportation of patients, supplies and specimens; ordering and stocking of supplies; and maintenance of special equipment, including sterile equipment and set-ups.
Ensure exam rooms are stocked, clean and ready for patients; Order, stock, maintain and use supplies and equipment in a cost-effective manner; Clean, sterilize and package instruments according to clinic procedures
Monitor patient flow and assist in the management of multiple operatories simultaneously; verify the presence of the patient’s medical records, x-rays, and lab test results, as needed, prior to scheduled appointments
Assist provider by facilitating use of technology, including EMR (electronic medical records) and PACS (electronic imaging)
Coordinate communication flow in the clinic, including answering and directing telephone inquiries to the appropriate individual; Provide basic telephone screening per clinic protocols and recognize emergent/urgent problems and direct to the nurse or Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery attending or resident physician
Coordinate clerical patient care activities and/or specialized technical duties unique to the assigned clinic by assisting in scheduling patients, triaging patients in clinic, ensuring accurate and expedited patient check-in and discharge, obtaining consents for care and referral information
Take, and file radiographs, CBBT, cephalograms and panorex films on all new patients and others as directed; assist with Oral Surgery Clinic surgeries/procedures MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Current certified Dental Assistant in WA State and be willing to get the Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certification Examination (DAANCE) within 6 months
