Seattle Children’s Hospital Business Manager, Center Business Operations in Seattle, Washington

Responsibilities: The Center Business Manager (CBM) for the Center for Child Health Behavior and Development (CCHBD) oversees the Center's administration of sponsored research activities and operational support activities to support the Center's researchers and their research. As the primary administrator for the Center, the CBM works with the Center Director, the Center Business Office (CBO) Director, CBO leadership, faculty members and CBO staff to support Center activities. In addition to research pre- and post- award oversight, the role includes oversight of the Center's operations budget and the management of variety of operations support functions to facilitate research including purchasing, space allocation, personnel management and core services used by researchers. The CBM oversees Center financial and research compliance responsibilities to monitor and maintain research compliance through pre-award budgeting and application development and preparation, post-award budget forecasting, monthly review of budget status, existing and forecasted expenses, and capital budgets. The CBM collaborates with Research Center Directors, Central Business Office colleagues, Directors of Integrated Business Services, and other departments at Seattle Childrens to manage and advise on financial and other administrative or operational work. The CBM works to identify and eliminate roadblocks, and to ensure that research activities are appropriately resourced. The CBM supervises CBO personnel including but not limited to Grant and Contract Administrators and administrative center staff. The CBO regularly collects, analyzes, and reports Center performance metrics and utilizes lean methodologies to create change and act as a catalyst for improvement in processes and cross-functional team effectiveness. The CBO participates in operationalizing change and improvements as we seek to achieve annual strategic goals. Requirements: Required Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business management, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum five years related experience, which must include administrative/management experience, and at least 3 years experience within the grants and contracts arena including pre- and post-award activities in all of the following: National Institute of Health and other federal grants, private foundation grants, and industry contracts. Minimum two years supervisory experience. Required Credentials: N/A. Preferred: Certified Research Administrator or equivalent experience. Experience managing a recharge/core in compliance with federal policies. At least 2 years experience in leading continuous improvement projects. Min to Max Hourly Salary: $53.80 - $80.70 /hr Min to Max Annual Salary: $111,904.00 - $167,856.00 /yr Salary Information: This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
