The XCM Insights Team is growing. As Amazon becomes a larger and more dynamic presence in more and more countries around the world, there is an increasing need for deep dive world class insights on consumers. Given the wealth of data at Amazon, the real challenge is extracting, analyzing, and curating this data to ensure marketers fully understand their customers. In this role, the BIE will run analyses of populations within geographic regions, or cut by key demographics, to properly understand unmet customer needs. For example, we seek to understand where Gen Z lives, works, attends school, where they shop, and what types of entertainment they seek. In Europe, we have many geographies we would like to understand better (e.g., regions, cities, etc.). And, we also would like to understand the impact on customer experience of CX elements, such as the languages offered in a given region in our UI.We are looking for a candidate who will work as Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) and Demographer on the team. As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you will generate insights that will guide research excellence and business strategy for our customers. As a demographer, you will study the composition (make-up), distribution and trends of populations. You will work on the large tracking (e.g. Brand Tracker, Ad Tracker) and non-tracking research program to validate sample representation of sub-segments (e.g. age groups, income groups) and produce sub-segment reports. This candidate with leverage both external (e.g. census, Simmons) and internal (Data Warehouse, DDS) to validate sample representation. This roles requires an individual with strong knowledge of sampling techniques (e.g. stratified sampling, random sampling). The successful candidate will be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, with strong attention to detail, with the ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment. This candidate recognizes that the true measure of the success of the work product is based on the business impact the findings have had.Responsibilities:* Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.* Design, develop and maintain scaled, automated, user-friendly systems, reports, dashboards, etc. that will support the needs of the business.* Be hands-on with ETL to build data pipeline to support automated reporting.* Demographers collect statistical data, analyze the data to identify any trends, and then predict future trends.* Reviewing other sources of information to back up the findings from statistical analysis of data, e.g. validation of sample representation using external and internal sources. This will require working on large market research data sets and mining of data at sub-segment level.* Apply deep analytic and business intelligence skills to extract meaningful insights and learning from large and complicated data sets.* Build various data visualizations to tell the story of business trends, patterns, and outliers through rich visualizations.* Master's degree or Bachelor's degree with 5 years of additional experience in survey or census data analysis.* 6+ years of experience of analysis covering multiple countries.* 3+ years of experience in data mining and data-set preparation using SQL.* 3+ years of experience with Tableau Desktop or other relevant data visualization software.* Proven ability to deliver results without oversight, detail-oriented, and show ability to deliver on ambiguous projects with incomplete or inconsistent data.* Proficient understanding of data warehousing, data modeling methods.* Experience in analytical software (e.g., Q, R, SPSS, SAS, STATA, Excel Pivot Tables).* Knowledge of sampling techniques (e.g. stratified sampling, random sampling).Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
