Talent Development Journey team’s mission is to make it easier for Amazonians to build rewarding careers in Amazon’s peculiar culture. To deliver on this mission, Talent Development tech team is building a talent development ecosystem (TDE) which empowers human judgement, action, and interaction to make it easier to learn and grow in Amazon’s peculiar culture. TDE enables authoring high quality content, delivering personalized learning experiences, and measuring proficiencies at scale.
We are looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE), to lead the development of our metrics, reporting, visualizations, and predictive analytics, end-to-end, to support strategic and tactical decision-making. An ideal candidate will have a strong business acumen, and the ability to translate business requirements into analysis, collect and analyze data, and make recommendations back to the business. In addition, the candidate must have the ability to work with stakeholder groups to solve business problems and provide data solutions that are organized and simple to understand.
Key job responsibilities
Interface with business owners to gather requirements and deliver reports or analysis to solve business problems.
Write SQL to retrieve and analyze data from database tables (ex. Redshift, MySQL, DBs), across a broad range of data resources.
Own the design, development, and maintenance of metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions
Make large and/or complex data more accessible, understandable and usable by implementing advanced BI dashboards and applications.
Analyze business information, and uncover trends and correlations to develop insights that materially improve our product and strategy decisions.
Establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for tracking and reporting on progress of initiatives.
Design, implement, and support a platform providing ad hoc access to large datasets.
A day in the life
You will work closely with product managers to lead research on employee behaviors and develop automated reporting to measure the impact of product and program enhancements on the employee onboarding experience. You will work closely with other engineers to learn and implement engineering best practices and the latest BI technology.

You will play a critical role in helping us leverage data and uncover insights to make this possible.
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab
Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift
Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $89,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
