UW Information Technology (UW-IT) is the central information technology organization for the University of Washington, responsible for strategic planning, oversight, and direction of the UW’s IT infrastructure, resources, and services. UW-IT provides critical technology support to all three campuses, UW Medicine, and research operations around the world. UW-IT partners with the UW community to enable innovation, learning, discovery, and service.

The Workday Coordination Services (WCS) team is looking for a Business Systems Analyst. WCS provides intake, prioritization, and coordination services for all Workday modules through facilitation and collaboration with business partners and technical teams. The Business Systems Analyst will perform detailed requirements analysis, document business processes, and identify areas for improvement. The Business Systems Analyst will play a key role in ensuring consistent standards and approaches are applied as they produce content related to technical requirements, specifications as well as data and system architecture diagrams. This position must work with an influence decisions across multiple teams, including: teams responsible for Workday financial, human resources, and payroll systems and processes, enterprise IT services, and integrations; and assisting in the translation of business rules or requirements with technical solutions.

This position provides the opportunity to work as a team member on an enterprise level program, in a challenging, diverse and rewarding environment. This position will support the WCS in meeting objectives, creating and maintaining deliverables, driving design issues to solution, ad hoc analysis, understanding data, testing, training and stabilization support. The position must be able to understand business, system and technical issues, and facilitate problem solving and issue resolution. In order to be successful, the incumbent will need to exhibit keen attention to detail while remaining aware of broader University objectives. Additionally, the role will excellent analytical acumen and documentation skills, an ability to prioritize multiple timelines and competing goals and excellent documentation skills.

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities but may be asked to coach and lead other analysts. The position will work closely with other analysts in multiple teams. The Business Systems Analyst is expected to develop stakeholder relationships and facilitate meetings successfully.

Position Complexities:

  • Provide analytical guidance and support at a programmatic level including mapping and documentation of business processes

  • Identify potential risks and obstacles which may hinder successful completion of deliverables and achievement of program goals

  • Evaluate processes, identify improvement opportunities and implement required updates/enhancements

  • Manage high-volume workloads by multi-tasking, coordinating with peers and communicating with customers as required

  • Balance complex and competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment

    REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Information Science, Computer Science or related area or experience.

  • Four to Five years of experience working with complex projects or operations involving multiple teams and deliverables, complex client or community interactions, and prioritization of multiple competing demands.

  • Knowledge and experience developing/implementing a variety of software systems involving Web-based user interfaces and relational databases in support of administrative or operational needs

  • Demonstrated excellence in client interaction, written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience working on large scale administrative systems, analytics/BI solutions or ERP

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a cooperative effort

  • Strong customer focus and excellence in relationship management with key partners

  • Strong negotiation and the ability to develop consensus

  • Equivalent education/experience may substitute for all minimum requirements DESIRED:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills developing enterprise data integration solutions across major business functional areas

  • Experience in a large university, large medical center, or other large complex enterprise

  • Knowledge and experience developing/implementing enterprise level software systems in support of administrative or operational needs

  • Experience dealing with organizational change management

  • Demonstrated success in facilitating work groups and ability to develop consensus

  • Previous experience with higher education financial and/or budget processes CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT This position involves responsibilities and occasional situations where work outside of standard business hours is required to respond to incidents or to meet critical deadlines.
