Expeditors Business Analyst III (Product Owner) - EXP.O Order Management, IS Operational Experience in Seattle, Washington

As part of Operational Experience IS Portfolio, the Order Management development team is responsible for developing core business applications that enable relentless management of customer order data to achieve superior supply chain execution leading to positive results for Expeditors and our customers.  These systems enable our world-wide network to deliver a supply chain execution model in sync with our customers’ order processes and network design. The basis of the service is to receive customer orders electronically and then manage, report upon the milestones presented on the orders, and utilize the orders for transportation related data processing. Integration in our global operating system of our customer’s order details with the shipment is standard. By utilizing Order Management Services, customers recognize tailored supply chain solutions regardless of sourcing location.

As a Product Owner and Business Analyst, you will be responsible for shaping the direction and quality of the Order Management systems being developed.  As a member of the Order Management development team, you will drive the long-term vision, development priorities and requirements for a development team in alignment with core business objectives.

You will fully understand and support our team’s objectives by clearly articulating business value, breaking features down into user stories with clear acceptance criteria, and collaborating closely with program and IS leadership to ensure our Order Management systems meet the high expectations of our business and our customers. This work aligns with our Strategic Initiative: Deliver the exp.o System.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Serve in a decision-making, leadership role on an Agile Scrum team as Product Owner

  • Build, refine, and prioritize team backlog in alignment with the program vision and roadmap

  • Draft specific team objectives for each sprint and program increment

  • Craft meaningful requirements that align stakeholder needs to capabilities

  • Clearly define story acceptance criteria and accept stories into the team backlog

  • Collaborate with other Product Owners and Business Stakeholders to resolve dependencies, coordinate efforts, and deliver cross-functional initiatives and technical enablers

  • Lead backlog grooming sessions to facilitate shared understanding of upcoming stories and acceptance criteria

  • Collaborate with Order Management Product Manager to define Business Features and deem them ready for development

  • Collaborate with Order Management Product Manager and other groups that may include Air Product, Ocean Product, Cargo Services, Ground Network Services & Transcon, and Connected Customer team on dependencies and shared objectives

  • Analyze and decompose complex business requirements to build software systems and influence design for testability and scalability

  • Participate in team demos, reviews and retrospectives with an eye toward continuous improvement

  • Prepare for and participate in ART activities, including PI Planning, System Demos, and Inspect and Adapt

This position is on-site and will reside in the greater Seattle, WA. area at one of the following locations depending on availability. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate. Relocation assistance is not offered for this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of software business analysis experience

  • Proficiency with the system development lifecycle, including agile techniques and other methodologies

  • Proven interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively

  • Effective at navigating ambiguity and helping diverse teams drive towards clarity and consensus

  • Management of multiple and competing priorities

  • Ability to compose concepts, ideas, and designs into actionable/measureable deliverables

  • Excellent time management and organization skills

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication

  • Ability to recognize and mitigate risks

  • Driven, strong 'get it done' attitude

  • Certification or ability to become certified as a SAFe Product Manager/Product Owner

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • System or Data analysis experience

  • Working knowledge of the UML (Unified Modeling Language) with the ability to effectively communicate business requirements through Business Object Models, State Diagrams, and other UML diagrams

  • Understanding of the transportation/global logistics industry

  • Working knowledge of Office 2013 or above, Azure Dev Ops (VSTS/TFS), SharePoint

  • Passion for technology

  • Experience as a Product Owner for an Agile team

  • Experience working with Reference Data and/or Data Governance products

Expected base salary:  $72,000 to $137,000
