Does that sound like you? The Opportunity with McKinstry We are currently seeking a Building Energy Specialist to join McKinstry as a member of our growing Technical Services team. This is a hybrid role based out of either the Seattle office. McKinstry supports clients and their facilities throughout the life of a building; the Technical Service team specifically focuses on the optimization and energy efficiency of existing buildings with a uniquely technical consultative approach. We work directly with owners to help them make effective decisions that improve the efficiency, comfort for occupants and lifespan of their buildings. In this role, you will analyze energy use data from facilities and benchmark these facilities against local and national standards. You will be responsible for keeping up to date on industry trends and legislative guidelines. As a member of the Technical Services consulting team, you will have opportunities to support clients with the creation of organizational plans that optimize their building operations while generating energy and utility savings. Washington State's pioneering Climate focused law, the Clean Buildings Performance Standard, was designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in existing commercial buildings by reducing energy use and driving long term operational efficiency. In this role, you will support McKinstry's approach to partnering with building owners so they can meet their sustainability goals and comply with this statewide initiative. Communication and collaboration are a large part of this role as well, frequently requiring that you partner with other McKinstry teams to deliver effective results while managing client expectations. You will work regularly with the Business Development team on new opportunities, support other teams in gaining facility rebates and participate in inter-departmental projects. You will assist the program managers with creating data analytics and reports and presenting them to clients. You will define and document energy management strategies for facilities across Washington state while sharing industry best practices and engineered recommendations. What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry: BA/BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Facilities Management, Environmental Science or equivalent field of study or equivalent work experience required. High-level understanding of commercial buildings' HVAC, lighting, controls, and envelope desired. Experience in energy management, HVAC commissioning, and/or data analysis preferred. Hands-on operator-level experience with building automation systems is desired. Experience with client-facing project delivery preferred.
