Meta Biocompatibility Scientist in Seattle, Washington

Summary:

Meta Reality Labs is looking for an experienced toxicology professional to conduct biocompatibility review of materials used in Meta-RL products. Biocompatibility expert must have a good understanding of ISO 10993 standards and demonstrated experience in hazard identification and risk assessment of materials, biocompatibility testing, designing test protocols and working in a collaborative cross functional, fast paced environment. Responsibilities and qualifications include toxicological review, biocompatibility testing, exposure assessment, engagement with cross functional partners internally, help build processes and specifications.

Required Skills:

Biocompatibility Scientist Responsibilities:

  1. Be a technical leader in areas of Toxicology and Biocompatibility to support all wearable and non-wearable products developed by Reality Labs

  2. Conduct in-depth toxicological assessment including hazard identification and exposure assessment for materials considered in RL products

  3. Design and manage biocompatibility testing strategies for materials and products to address key biocompatibility endpoints/gaps in working closely with internal and external test labs

  4. Work closely with cross functional team members and suppliers to ensure selection of biocompatible materials, influence key material/product decisions and support in identification of safer alternatives

  5. Drive and help build harmonized biocompatibility processes, policies and testing strategy across all RL products

  6. Engage and communicate with RL leaders on biocompatibility specific topics

  7. Represent RL in external industry level committees and working groups towards building standards and/or guidance for wearable products in consumer electronics

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. MS in toxicology or related field with 5+ years experience in a related industry or Ph.D in toxicology or related field with 3+ years experience in a related industry

  2. Experience conducting material review, toxicological risk assessments, building dossier, drafting processes and procedures (SOP’s) and building restricted material specifications

  3. Working knowledge of analytical testing methodologies, biological testing, alternative testing methodologies and prediction modeling

  4. Experience working in a fast paced, collaborative, cross functional environment

  5. Experience presenting clearly to technical and non-technical audience

  1. Fundamental understanding and experience in ISO 10993 standards and reviewing materials for biocompatibility

  2. Toxicology Board certification (DABT)

  3. Experience working in consumer electronics industry

Public Compensation:

$139,000/year to $200,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
