The Opportunity with McKinstry

McKinstry is seeking a BIM Coordinator to join our New Construction mechanical team in Seattle. The primary responsibility of this role is to facilitate the trade coordination process and manage the BIM environment across multiple construction projects simultaneously. This position requires a proactive and detail-oriented professional who can effectively oversee and coordinate various aspects of virtual design and construction to ensure successful project delivery.

Technical:

  • Compile federated models using Navisworks, adhering to McKinstry's VDC standards and project-specific BIM Execution Plans

  • Manage the clash detection process: run clash tests, issue reports, maintain models, and guide resolution.

  • Build coordination models in Revit, troubleshoot alignment issues, and manage Autodesk platforms like BIM360.

  • Contribute to McKinstry’s BIM execution standards and participate in non-project departmental initiatives.

  • Oversee project coordination: manage models, documentation, clashing, and project platforms.

Project Management:

  • Distribute federated models, ensuring compliance with BIM Execution Plans.

  • Schedule and facilitate coordination meetings among trades, manage clash processes and track resolutions.

  • Support project management in developing coordination schedules that align with key milestones and reduce trade stacking.

  • Formalize clash signoff documentation and assist in meeting project goals.

  • Manage time effectively across multiple projects.

Communication:

  • Clearly communicate project progress and constraints to customers and maintain BIM coordination team distribution lists.

  • Provide strategic leadership in technology implementation, lead training sessions, and coordinate project documentation.

  • Collaborate with Technology Partners and internal teams to deliver projects, create documentation, and manage solutions.

  • Forecast manpower needs, lead recruitment, and develop training programs for evolving technical landscapes.

  • Provide performance feedback, support career planning, and communicate company goals and priorities.

  • Lead McKinstry’s construction technology efforts, standardize hardware investments, and maintain professional relationships.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

  • 2 years of experience in 3D/BIM modeling and MEP construction.

  • Basic knowledge of Revit, Navisworks, and Microsoft Office

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Understanding of schedules and work planning.

  • Organized, self-starter with attention to detail.

  • Experience with iOS, Android, and Windows; ability to learn new software.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; advanced Excel skills a plus.

  • Training and project management experience a plus.

  • Knowledge of mechanical systems and the A/E/C industry preferred.

  • Experience in a technology environment or software development a plus.

  • Excellent written, oral, organizational, and analytical skills.

The pay range for this position is $29.81 - $43.85 per hour; however, base pay offered my vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This is a non-exempt role and will be paid hourly. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
