Join us in lowering the cost of access to space and enabling Blue Origin's vision of millions of people living and working in space to benefit Earth.As part of the Avionics hardware test team for all liquid propellant rocket engines at Blue Origin, you will provide independent technical oversight across all acceptance and qualification test activities for the engine controller hardware used in all engines programs. This includes test equipment and all testing across the development and operational lifecycle. You will also develop and sustain the technical acumen of the Avionics hardware test team through mentorship, training, participating in and leading failure investigations, developing and leading training content for general and specialty topics, and chairing technical reviews for test equipment design and test readiness.The position reports to the Engines Avionics Hardware Test Functional Manager and requires strong engineering and collaboration skills to implement optimal solutions that support the imposed requirements and architecture. While working in a fast-paced challenging environment, you will contribute to innovative solutions, while demonstrating personal leadership, sound technical judgement and competence, and a passion for the highest technical standards partnering with the business unit and engineering leadership to achieve program goals.Responsibilities:Act as the independent technical authority for Avionics test equipment development and hardware testing, providing technical assessments of requirements, design, risks, budget, and schedule with the Integrated Product Team Leads.Vet the technical baseline for test equipment designs and acceptance and qualification test campaignsAssess and approve technical completion and compliance at technical reviews for test equipment design and test readiness reviewsProvide engineering leadership and mentoring to test team to coordinate test equipment design, test verification activities. Additionally, provide technical guidance and inputs to support hardware design, analysis and systems engineering processes outside the test team throughout the life cycle of development, verification, delivery and operation.Develop and lead technical training content for general and specialty topicsLead failure investigations to develop and sustain the technical acumen of our test engineersProvide independent review of corrective actions for major failures of the controller hardware or test equipment and work with functional managers in addressing systemic issues.Qualifications:Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space!Graduate degree (MS or Ph.D) in an engineering field, with 20+ years of design, development or analysis experience.Past leadership experience making technical decisions to influence multiple project teamsExperience in full lifecycle development of avionic systems, including many aspects of system design, analysis, and test, requirement and verification definition, software implementation and verification, system integration, qualification, operations and commissioning.10+ years mentoring and developing technical leads or engineersHighly organized team player with excellent technical written and verbal communication skills.Demonstrated track record of personal integrity, strong technical decision making and bias for action from their previous assignments.Demonstrated ability to operate with cohesive and effective teams and drive decision making within those teams.Experience with development in mission and safety-critical environments.Leadership experien
