Amazon Publishing, the full-service publishing arm of Amazon, is seeking an energetic and process-oriented Associate Vendor Manager. In this role, you will focus on administering and streamlining current processes that support the management of creative service partners, including design, editorial, marketing, and PR vendors. With a goal of creating an environment that attracts and retains world-class talent, you will work to ensure cross-team, cross-tool coordination for smooth vendor engagement, ongoing success management and regularly process invoices for payment. The successful candidate is highly organized and relishes the opportunity to wrangle and analyze data in Excel. They also have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to independently drive projects, consistently prioritize multiple, competing tasks, and a passion for reading to help us fulfill our mission of driving and measuring excellence in publishing.

Key job responsibilities

  • Liaise with third party managed service provider(s) and partner with multiple internal teams to administer weekly review of expiring vendor contracts, update contracts as necessary, and track onboarding progress.

  • Manage US vendor payment and reconciliation process, facilitate reporting to surface vendor and service cost metadata to internal partners, and drive best possible vendor payment experience.

  • Create and manage auditing mechanisms for vendor profiles to ensure complete and accurate vendor metadata.

  • Oversee end-to-end onboarding process for multiple sub-categories of vendors and facilitate continued relationship management.

  • Troubleshoot escalations to ensure best working environment possible for vendors.

  • Collaborate with finance, tax, and legal to advise on and execute business strategy in a compliant manner.

A day in the life

The Associate Vendor Manager may spend part of their day working with our 3rd party managed service provider to process upcoming contract renewals, answer inquiries from vendors regarding processes or tool adoption, processing new invoices received and validate service assignment and rates, coordinate with internal Design team on vendor pool and new onboarding requests and liaise with internal Accounts Payable teams to facilitate invoice payment. There is regular juggling priorities and communicating with teams internal to Amazon Publishing, internal to Amazon and external vendors.

The Vendor Management team is a tight-knit, fast moving team with a wide array of opportunities to learn and grow. It requires speed to execute urgent tasks but also ample opportunity to streamline processes to maximize bespoke support of our internal partner teams and external vendors.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of account management, project or program management or buying experience

  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Excel and other business analytic tools

  • Proven track record of taking ownership and effectively dealing with a high level of ambiguity.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to drive multiple, competing priorities.

  • Proven ability to conceptualize and execute deadline-driven projects, with strong bias for action.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $47,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $103,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
