Associate Scientist Job details Posted 15 August 2024 Location Seattle, WA Job type Permanent Reference 933055 Job description Job Title: Associate Scientist Work Location: Seattle WA Duration : 12 months Pay rate: $57-65/hr mRNA Platform Analytical Development Top Skills: * Proficiency in generating and interpreting qPCR and RT-PCR data sets * Proficiency with capillary electrophoresis (preferred Sciex PA800 Plus system), Agarose gel electrophoresis, and/or TapeStation analysis * Proficiency with ELISA workflows * Experience working with, storing, and analyzing purified nucleic acids Seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist to work in a fast-paced P&AD environment applying rigorous scientific principles towards developing a platform process for producing mRNA. As a part of the Gene Delivery and Editing Process Development (GDEPD) organization, the ideal Associate will possess sufficient experience in analytical method development of biological molecules, with a high preference for any experience with developing analytical methods for measuring mRNA impurities, quality attributes, and expression in cells. A successful Associate will directly employ biophysical, analytical, and cell assay techniques to develop our next-generation gene edited therapies. In this capacity, the Associate will design and execute analytical methods for mRNA molecules to enable robust ex vivo studies. An outstanding candidate will be driven by a desire to create, optimize, and define processes with speed in a collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities: * Execute and troubleshoot analytical assays for the characterization of mRNA molecules * Assist in the design, and evaluate the performance, of new analytical development assays * Assist in establishing SOPs and protocols for analytical assays * Manage samples and data related to mRNA platform process development * Optimize workflows for assessing mRNA attributes and impurities * Provide experimental design and executional support to team members in adjacent and related functions (e.g. clinical development programs, high throughput process development, etc.) * Actively participate and support lab maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives * Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory notebook and documentation * Summarize and present data in group meetings and contribute to group discussions * Author technical reports, study memos, and protocols Basic Qualifications: * STEM degree with 2+ years of relevant industry experience; title/compensation will be commensurate with education, experience, and skillset * Proficiency in generating and interpreting qPCR and RT-PCR data sets * Proficiency with capillary electrophoresis (preferred Sciex PA800 Plus system), Agarose gel electrophoresis, and/or TapeStation analysis * Proficiency with ELISA workflows * Experience working with, storing, and analyzing purified nucleic acids * Independently motivated with the ability to work in teams * Ability to communicate clearly and concisely through oral presentation and technical writing * Ability to leverage literature, internal and external resources to solve problems and develop new technologies * Possess a growth mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment Preferred Qualifications: * Degree in biological or chemical engineering, biochemistry, or bio-related field * Experience with IP-RP-UPLC method development * Experience with JMP for DoE design and analysis * Experience with the in vitro transcription of mRNA * Experience interacting and collaborating with vendors * Experience with collecting, organizing, and interpreting large data sets * Experience with mammalian cell-based assays which include flow cytomet
