The Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) organization is seeking an Associate Fluids & Lubrications Lab Technician to work with the Fluids and Lubrication Technology team in Seattle, Washington.
This is a diverse team of subject matter experts that apply a chemical understanding of fluids and lubricants as well as the systems that they are used in to define specification requirements and provide support to manufacturing and in-service products across the Boeing enterprise. The team member will support the laboratory testing of materials to ensure that standards are met and assist in failure analysis.
Position responsibilities:
Performs quality assurance (QA) testing of fluids and lubricants
Performs tests to qualify new tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes to meet requirements
Maintains laboratory equipment including calibration certification
Maintains a clean, safe and compliant laboratory environment including implementation of 5S requirements and laboratory standard operating procedures (SOP’s)
Prepares laboratory for audits
Leads, coordinates and conducts complex analysis of failed parts and processes to reduce or eliminate future failures. Generates test plans, identifies and categorizes failure, determines root cause and documents results and recommendations
Leads the proposal, development and validation of revisions to procedures and specifications
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location option.
This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Associate’s degree or higher in chemistry, biology, or materials science
Experience using Microsoft Office Products like Outlook, Power Point, Excel, and Word
Experience working in a chemical or petroleum laboratory
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or materials science
Experience operating analytical test equipment including ICP, XRF, FTIR, distillation apparatus, flash point testers, viscometer, titration, optical microscope
Experience documenting and clearly communicating test results to customers
Experience performing laboratory testing to standards (i.e. ASTM, SAE)
Experience interacting with customers to coordinate testing requirements and schedule
Experience working efficiently and accurately perform routine testing
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 1 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor, 3 years' related work experience, etc.).

Summary pay range: $56,100 - $75,900
