The College of Engineering has an exciting opening for an Associate Director for Web Strategy. This is a full-time, permanent position.

The Associate Director of Web Strategy leads and directs the planning, strategic development and management of the College of Engineering’s web presence while ensuring accurate, timely and compelling web pages and data-driven enhancements that benefit websites in the College’s Drupal multisite structure. Leading a team of 1-2 team members, the Associate Director ensures that the College of Engineering websites reflect brand standards and follow best practices in usability and accessibility while meeting the needs of its users, including internal and external audiences. The Associate Director trains, collaborates and consults with faculty and staff from engineering departments and programs.

What You Will Do: Website strategy and implementation (30%)

• Ensure College and partner websites meet strategic goals; develop annual and strategic plans for websites in the short and long term. Create shared understanding of priorities and projects and promote the contributions and success of the web team. • Create College-wide standards for websites that ensure accessibility, usability, reflect University and College branding and messaging, and meet strategic digital engagement goals. • Lead usability testing for the College website and partner with web specialists to develop usability testing opportunities for other sites and audiences. • Plan and prioritize web development needs. • Lead and oversee the workflow of and assign projects to the web team professional staff.

Content management, user experience design and collaborator support (30%)

• Lead periodic website audits for accuracy, completeness and relevance. • Develop, improve and update systems and processes that enable the team to collaborate efficiently and track the annual plan and other large and small-scale projects. • Create wireframes and mock-ups for web projects, including adding new features, changing existing web products, and developing high-profile web pages and microsites. • Create, manage and maintain web pages in response to support requests and independently, as needed, to ensure accurate, timely and compelling websites. • Work with stakeholders and communications staff to develop best practices, processes and guidelines that ensure content is consistent, accurate, readable and accessible.

Web analytics, insights and digital engagement (25%)

• Evaluate web analytics, set benchmarks, maintain dashboards and make data-driven recommendations using tools such as SiteImprove, Google Analytics, CrazyEgg and Hotjar. • Share data insights with collaborators to drive improvements and strategy.

Technical support and training (10%)

• Maintain Drupal manuals, train users, and create materials and documentation to support content managers and collaborators. • Assist College staff on web issues, including the use of themes and web components.

Other duties (5%) MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, technical communication or related field AND five years of professional client-facing experience.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. What You Bring:

• Experience working and communicating with diverse collaborators. • Customer service-minded with interpersonal skills and experience working in and maintaining confidentiality ; strong written and verbal communication skills; able to flex communication styles. • Demonstrated knowledge of website development lifecycle. • Experience developing website plans that incorporate strategic planning and stakeholder goals and benchmarks, best practices, web analytics and user-driven feedback. • Strong understanding and proven practice of user experience standards. Previous experience managing and developing design systems. • Demonstrated ability to deliver creatively designed web pages and effectively communicate through design elements. • Demonstrated technical skills, including proficiency in HTML, CSS and Drupal or other content management systems. • Knowledge of web standards, including W3C compliance and accessibility; familiarity with Photoshop or other image-editing software. • Demonstrated experience managing staff. Ability to communicate decision-making, promote consensus and foster positive relationships.
