WSP USA Associate Consultant, Civil Engineering in Seattle, Washington

This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a full-time, Associate Civil Engineer for our Seattle, WA office. Be involved in projects with our Pacific Mountain West Transportation Engineering Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges. Take part in providing local technical assistance for the design, development, and construction of infrastructure projects and systems in the public and private sector. Tasks may include basic assistance with the research, design, concept development, and construction of transportation civil infrastructure. Work with a team to generate accurate and concise documentation regarding assigned aspects of the project. Deliver work product meeting acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.

Your Impact

  • Assist and support design teams in the execution of project delivery

  • Provide technical input during various stages of project, including preliminary design, final design and contract documentation including cost estimates and specifications

  • Perform basic design tasks using computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) to develop transportation projects in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, InRoads/OpenRoads and/or MicroStation

  • Assist with work plan preparation and coordination of field/site work and permitting.

  • Perform standard computations and analysis

  • Discuss and propose solutions to technical issues

  • Collect data and gather information or documents

  • Attend design meetings and coordinate with team members

  • Develop memorandums and other written technical documents

  • Maintain positive team relationships

  • Assist and coordinate with key staff across disciplines (i.e. drainage, structures) as required

  • Complete training on assigned tasks.

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline.

  • 1 to 3 years of relevant post-education experience.

  • Analytical mindset with an ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.

  • Experience with discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D,InRoads, etc).

  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others.

  • Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.

  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.

  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, software, technology, and tools including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint

  • Uphold workplace safety and abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

  • Washington State driver’s license. Has the ability to drive and has or can obtain a Washington State driver’s license.

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior design experience related to the degree of study and the specific engineering discipline.

  • A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.WSP Benefits:

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $78,500-$117,700

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
