Silver Bay Seafoods, LLC Assistant Plant Carpenter - 8 Locations in Seattle, Washington

As the Assistant Plant Carpenter at one of our Alaska seafood processing facilities, is responsible for maintaining and repairing the facility's infrastructure, including wooden structures, equipment, and machinery. This involves tasks such as building and repairing workbenches, pallets, and crates, as well as maintaining conveyor belts, doors, and other wooden components. They also assist in construction projects, install safety barriers, and perform general carpentry duties to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.

Essential Functions/Qualifications

The responsibilities of the position include the following:

  • Assisting in installing, maintaining and repairing facility wall and ceiling system.
  • Set up and operating wood working tools and all common had tools to cut, form, and finish material for the construction or demolition of an assigned project.
  • Assisting in installing wood or metal parts and repairing or refinishing walls or structures.
  • Assisting in installing glass or replacing broken glass, dismantling roofing or window siding.
  • Prepares scaffolding as needed to complete projects safely.
  • Assists to ensure proper completion of carpenters work like, painting, roofing and locksmith.
  • Touch-up of incidental painting after structure repairs.
  • Able to implement safe work procedures.
  • Other duties are to ensure the facility and organization is fully supported and successful.

  • Carpentry Skills:Proficiency in basic carpentry skills, such as measuring, cutting, and joining wood.
  • Equipment Usage:Ability to use various carpentry tools and equipment safely and efficiently. To include but not limited to pipe or tube cutters, hammers, punches, measuring devices, wrenches, screwdrivers, sockets, ratchets, grinders, pry bars, power saws, pullers, measuring devices and chisels.
  • Blueprint Reading:Skill in reading and understanding blueprints and construction plans.
  • Safety Protocols:Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures in a manufacturing environment.
  • Problem-Solving:Ability to identify and resolve carpentry-related problems.
  • Quality Control:Attention to detail to ensure the quality of carpentry work.

Interpersonal

  • Teamwork:Ability to collaborate effectively with other team members, including carpenters, engineers, and production staff.
  • Communication:Strong communication skills to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and management.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • Basic carpentry with some mechanical experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of general tools and functional handyman repairs
  • Experience in manufacturing processes relevant to seafood

Work Environment and Schedule

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is loud. Position requires onsite presence at one of our Alaska processing facilities, and the ability to travel, including at times to remote locations.
