Kids Science Labs Assistant Learning POD Leader (Seattle) - Part-Time in Seattle, Washington
Kids Science Labs, the world leader in center-based creativity and innovation education for the past 10 years, is adapting to the changing needs of the educational world and seeking to add our next great teacher who will dynamically lead learning pods and hands-on STEAM lessons. Our learning pods will be filled with hands-on science and support for students K-5th that are doing remote learning at our centers. We would like to bring in Assistants to support our active learning environment. You must be willing to engage, know how to laugh, and be genuinely interested in supporting students with in-person activities. You will read stories, execute our safety protocols, take kids on nature walks, and also help to clean, prepare, and bring our environment to life in our learning lab.
While it is great if you have your teaching certification, we believe firmly that great teachers are everywhere, so whether you are an artist, nanny, or teacher in a traditional classroom, if you can communicate well, engage kids, and have the desire to provide exceptional customer service to fellow teachers, parents, and the kids that visit KSL weekly, then we likely want to speak with you.
At KSL, we inspire kids today, to build a better future tomorrow and as such, it is not just about science, but more about leading kids in their everyday discoveries using hands-on science as a tool for learning.
In this new assistant role, which will be 15-30 hours per week, M-F, you will have the great opportunity to:
Bring joy to students in a small group setting (6-10 students)
Facilitate kids questions and help them in any of their remote learning experiences.
Bring your teaching expertise to deliver the best hands-on STEAM lessons in the world
Work in a safe learning environment where COVID-protocols are top priority and no confirmed cases during a Summer of camp with nearly 10,000 student interactions
Be willing to lead the pod on days that your colleagues may have off for PTO
Spend up to two hours a day enjoying outdoors with your learning pod
Ability to joyfully communicate with parents and classroom teachers of students
Bring a high level of personal and professional responsibility for the students in your learning pod
Enjoy being with, engaging, and adapting to children
BS/BA degree (preferably in science, early childhood education)
Positive attitude and a need to smile
Ability to learn, adapt, and operate in a dynamic and creative environment
Confidence to propose new ideas and innovate with kids
Strong classroom management skills and preparation skills
Desire to help explore questions rather than give kids answers
