The Husky Health Center has an outstanding opportunity for an Assistant Director for Primary Care and Same Day to join their team.

This position serves University of Washington students by providing leadership to the Primary Care and Same Day clinical units of Husky Health Center (HHC) and works independently as a healthcare provider in one or both of those units. The assistant director also serves as an expert patient care consultant and leads the clinical operations of these units. This position has a UW clinical faculty appointment and serves as a leader on the HHC Operations Team, Clinical Leadership Committee, and other groups. All HHC staff members are considered essential employees and are expected to report to work during UW closures for severe weather, natural disaster, or other emergency conditions.

This is an 85-100% FTE position.

ABOUT HUSKY HEALTH CENTER

Husky Health Center (HHC) on the UW Seattle Campus is an AAAHC-accredited outpatient facility providing high quality health care to a wide range of individuals. Husky Health Center has approximately 38,000 patient visits annually, two thirds by undergraduate and graduate students and one third by faculty, staff and other community members. Husky Health is part of the UW Division of Student Life, and its primary mission is to support student success by providing excellent access to high quality comprehensive care. Providers contribute to the medical quality assurance and management needs of the clinic and are committed to supporting the UW Medicine’s “Patients Are First” Service Culture Guidelines.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Practice high quality, evidence-based care as an experienced medical provider.

  • Exemplify “Patients Are First” Service Culture Guidelines and high standards of professionalism.

  • Fulfill all duties of the Physician 2 position.

  • Collaborate with other HHC staff and teams, other UW Medicine providers and services, and other UW organizations in order to provide excellent patient care.

  • Serve as a clinical consultant for providers in the Primary Care and Same Day units, including for procedural skills.

  • Identify clinical needs of UW students and opportunities for Quality Improvement.ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide leadership excellence for the Primary Care and Same Day units and partner with other HHC leaders to ensure effective teamwork, efficient operations and compliance with clinical standards.

  • Lead semimonthly team meetings and serve on the Clinical Leadership Committee and other committees.

  • Create, approve, and maintain unit policies.

  • Assure that Primary Care and Same Day unit staffing and clinical services support HHC's hours of operation and meet patient flow needs.

  • Oversee the units’ clinical programs, promote a culture of patient safety and Quality Improvement, contribute to regular Quality Improvement projects, and partner with the Medical Director and other leaders to monitor, evaluate, and improve quality of care.

  • Assist in reviewing patient satisfaction issues, unexpected clinical events, and potentially avoidable morbidity using Quality Improvement and Risk Management protocols.

  • Partner with the Medical Director and Clinic Manager to create provider schedules for the Primary Care and Same Day units.

  • Evaluate and approve timesheets and leave requests for providers in the unit.

  • Monitor the professional performance and clinical privileges of unit providers and complete annual performance reviews.

  • Provide coaching and mentoring to unit providers and staff, and participate in corrective action plans if needed.

  • Attend staff conferences and support continuing education and career development of providers and other clinic staff.

  • Assist HHC administration in assuring that HHC policies and procedures support accreditation standards (e.g., AAAHC, DOH).

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and organizations from UW Student Life and the UW Medicine system.

  • May perform outreach activities as recommended by the Executive Team.

  • May perform the duties of the Medical Director in the absence of the Medical Director or as delegated by the Medical Director or Executive Director.

  • May perform other administrative duties as requested. COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS

  • A valid Washington State license to practice as a Physician by the Washington Board of Medical Examiners.

  • Prescriptive authority for legend drugs in the State of Washington.

  • Current U.S. Government Controlled Substance Registration (DEA) Certificate.

  • Meet requirements for licensing and certification in their specialty.

  • Meet Washington State CME requirements.

  • Meet HHC and UW Medicine credentialing and privileging requirements.

  • Two years of experience within the organization or five years in another relevant setting. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Exemplary experience and skill in medical practice.

  • Procedural skills for common primary care and urgent care procedures.

  • Experience and interest in caring for college and young adult populations.

  • Excellent leadership skills.
