The purpose of this position is to plan, direct, manage, and oversee all aspects of program activity of the Foster School’s Specialty Master’s Programs serving working professionals with current annual program budgets over $11 million. Currently, this role leads a team serving 3 program communities (Master of Science in Business Analytics, Master of Science in Information Systems, and Master of Supply Chain Management), each of which is of strategic importance to the Foster School. The Assistant Dean is responsible for setting a positive culture for the staff, student, faculty, and stakeholder communities consistent with the Foster purpose statement, developing and outlining program goals, designing strategies that accelerate the development of students as future leaders, overseeing execution of co-curricular development experiences along with faculty and staff colleagues, engaging with faculty directors and department chairs on curriculum structure and execution, liaising with professional development colleagues, and oversight of budget, staffing, and external relations. The role directs the work of colleagues performing key functions inclusive of marketing, recruiting, and admissions, student services, co-curricular programming, operations, and external relations.

In addition to working with faculty directors, department chairs, and professional development leaders, this role works closely with the Associate Dean for Master’s Programs, teaching faculty, advisory committees, marketing communications colleagues, and other Foster graduate program directors to ensure large, well-qualified, and collectively diverse cohorts, delivery of a transformative development experience, and strong professional development outcomes for graduates. This position reports to the Associate Dean for Master’s Programs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic and Financial Management - 40%

• Plan and oversee the strategic direction of the Master’s Programs and in alignment with the purpose and values of the Foster School of Business and as part of a portfolio of graduate business programs. • Establish multi-year strategic and tactical plans to maintain and expand program excellence, enhance the student experience, and ensure program relevancy in the marketplace for talent. • Plan, direct, manage, and oversee total operations of the Master’s Programs including full responsibility for annual program budgets over $11 million. • Develop, oversee, and present annual budget and financial performance to the Foster Budget Committee and various Foster bodies. • Manage the financial resources of the programs including budgets and funds from federal, state, private, and foundation sources to ensure ethical and fiduciary practices. • Provide clear and effective leadership to achieve strategic goals. • Develop, implement, and oversee guidelines and policies relating to the Master’s Programs in cooperation with the Foster School Master’s Programs Committee and Associate Dean of Master’s Programs. • Build and strengthen strategic relationships with alumni and the business community. • Develop and oversee strategic direction of experiential learning activities. • Co-Plan with the Director of the Ernst & Young Center professional development models and programming to prepare candidates for a competitive employment market locally, regionally, nationally, and globally.

Academic Program Operations and Assessment of and Feedback on Curriculum Delivery - 35%

• Conduct ongoing holistic evaluation of program performance including student outcomes, curriculum performance, budget, market demand, and external partnerships. • Partner with internal and cross-functional teams, particularly those in Marketing Communications and within other Foster work-compatible degree offerings, to achieve key performance indicators for student outcomes and enrollment growth. • Recommend and implement new initiatives and services. • Develop, implement, and oversee guidelines and polices relating to the program. • Oversee and monitor student satisfaction as well as progress toward student satisfaction goals; report to and recommend action to the Associate Dean of Master’s Programs in response to feedback received. • Develop and implement effective operating policies, procedures, and systems for the Master’s organization, inclusive of admissions, program operations, student affairs, and alumni connections. • Work with the faculty directors and department chairs to ensure curricular excellence, a valued and valuable student learning experience, and a positive and cohesive teaching environment for faculty. • Recommend faculty candidates as needed to department chairs and faculty directors. • Act as a key administrative representative of the Master’s Programs to Foster School faculty. • Maintain and identify issues that require further clarification and/or any need to revise/edit descriptions posted on Master’s Program websites; create, update, and manage information in the corresponding sections of the Slate application tool. • Consult the Associate Dean of Master’s Programs and—as appropriate—Foster Master’s Programs Committee regarding issues where there's no clear direction or policy guidelines. • Advise and assist Master’s students as needed. • Provide initial counseling for academic matters and refer students to faculty, staff, faculty directors, the Associate Dean for Master’s Programs, or other Foster and UW administration on an as-needed basis.

Supervision - 25%

• Lead, coach, develop, mentor, and supervise leaders and their teams consisting of 10 full-time roles as well as hourly and student employees in a manner consistent with Foster’s purpose and values. • Hire staff, evaluate job performance, and take corrective action if performance is not acceptable. • Organize professional development plans for full-time staff to achieve goals and objectives of the programs as well as staff personal development. • Coach students’ workers or temporary staff to achieve goals and objectives.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Master's Degree in Business, Economics, Education, or a related field. • Six+ years of leadership experience in a complex academic setting or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Experience in working with different constituencies. • Proficiency with financial and budgetary practices in an academic setting. • Demonstrated success in staff supervision, staff development, and strategic management. • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse, adult learner student populations and a commitment to an inclusive, collaborative work environment. • Exemplary time-management and organizational skills and ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced, energetic, highly creative, sometimes ambiguous, entrepreneurial environment. • Superior administrative and organizational skills, including planning and problem solving. • Excellent oral and written communications skills.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Professional experience working in marketing/recruiting/admissions, academic affairs, or program operations at a highly ranked (top 25) school in the US Specialty Master’s marketplace.
