McKinstry is looking to add an Architectural Metals Estimator to our Architectural Metals division in Seattle. You will be joining an established and diverse team where you will be able to make an immediate impact. As an Estimator, you will evaluate costs and constructability issues in preparing estimates and ensure the accuracy of the cost estimates. The ideal candidate possessed the ability to develop initial budgets and estimates with no engineering drawings or specifications. You will be coordinating and performing duties and responsibilities such as lead generation, customer services, and coordinating the start of a project.
As an Estimator, you will be responsible for establishing contacts within the industry. You will be expected to communicate with general contractors, architects, engineers, and subcontractors. You must possess the ability and confidence to interact with leaders within the industry. Developing estimates for potential subcontractors, putting together scope letters, and following through with communication until the project begins its build phase are top priorities in this position. You will succeed if you are a good listener, have self-autonomy, and enjoy learning. Being detail-oriented, organized, and having self-accountability will ensure you continue to grow with our organization.
What we would like to see from you:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or comparable degree preferred, or equivalent work experience.
Knowledge of construction concepts required
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite required, knowledge of Bluebeam is preferred
Four (4) years of previous estimating experience preferred
Field experience in conceptual estimating is preferred
