Description

Amazon is seeking an Architectural Design Manager with proficiency to support the development and implementation of technical design standards across multiple Global Customer Fulfillment (GCF) building programs. This role will serve as the primary liaison between key internal Amazon design stakeholder team and the GCF Design and Construction team. This role will aid design development and increase standardization across all Amazon GCF building programs and sites. This role will directly manage the development, quality review, and distribution of major technical design standards across FC projects in North American.. The successful candidate will have extensive project management experience leading all phases of design including programming, schematic design, design development, constructability reviews, and construction administration on projects that include industrial warehouse, fulfillment facilities and/or manufacturing facilities. The successful candidate will also have a proven record of leading multi-discipline coordination and change management on design and construction projects, including Building Design Standards development, Value Engineering (VE), and cost/schedule mitigation measures. This candidate must perform well in a fast-paced, multi-project environment and be capable of prioritizing critical work on each project.

The role will include up to 60% travel to domestic construction sites.

Key job responsibilities

• Lead development and implementation of business-critical, economical, innovative and sustainable GCF technical design standards/templates.

• Demonstrated capability in the planning, design review & implementation, and project management /control of new structures & the enhancement of existing facility buildings.

• Review, organize, and distribute design standards.

• Support pre-construction and construction teams in the consistent execution of the standards.

• Serve as primary technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Architectural systems during design reviews of multiple building program standards, templates and site-specific designs on Amazon GCF program buildings

• Engage stakeholders to drive alignment on key issues, design practices, new building designs, and initiatives with the focus of reducing the cost of construction and maintenance while enhancing associate experience and operational excellence.

• Lead design development with third-party architects, engineers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.

• Adapt to constant change and innovation to Think Big, and work outside of your comfort zone and create adaptable solutions for an evolving business.

• Demonstrate success in communicating design requirements to various audiences (e.g. senior management, peers, public officials, vendors, etc.)

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of project management, real estate development, architecture/design experience

  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • An advanced degree, certification or Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or Masters of Business.

  • Experience operating within at least two disciplines in the construction industry, which could consist of General Contracting, Owner’s Representation, Commercial Development, Engineering & Design, owners project management representative or similar.

  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary design incorporating industrial automation, robotics, or similar.

  • Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM).

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $81,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $181,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
