The Boeing Company is currently seeking an Application Programming Interface Developer (Associate or Mid-Level) to join the Information Technology and Data Analytics (IT&DA) team in either Seattle, WA; Hazelwood, MO; North Charleston, SC; Plano, TX; or Ridley Park, PA .

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Integrated Solution Platforms (ISP) organization, securely connecting global stakeholders to mission-critical data!

This position is focused on delivering business value outcomes using an application integration and development platforms that includes microservices, Application Programming Interface Management (APIM), event-driven architecture and streaming, service oriented architecture, Orchestration, and more. Specifically, this position will be tasked with developing new capabilities and automation for integration platforms that enable our factories’ core business systems to exchange data performantly and securely.

The ideal candidate will be resourceful and a self-starter along with a love for tinkering, discovery, and continuously learning new technologies. The selected candidate will work with the following technologies: GIT, Maven, Spring/Spring Boot, JMS, Kafka, Karaf, Camel, XML technologies, JSON/YAML technologies, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), Microservices, container images and Kubernetes.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Designs, programs, tests, implements, documents and maintains computing applications

  • Gathers and evaluates end user technical requirements

  • Writes and compiles code and constructs database objects based on documented design and analyzes information to determine architecture specifications, parameters for software compatibility, application security needs and other application architecture requirements

  • Modifies or upgrades applications to maintain software functionality

  • Identifies and resolves programming or application architecture problems

  • Reviews system performance and identifies and recommends improvements

  • Operates using Agile methodologies (Scrum/Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)®), both independently and as a team

This position is hybrid. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 1+ years of experience developing software products in a cloud computing environment e.g. Azure/AWS/Google Cloud

  • 1+ years of experience with web application architecture, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) or cloud based development

  • 1+ years of experience in API development

  • 1+ years of experience operating in an Agile development environment

  • 1+ years of experience using Java

  • Experience with Software Security techniques such as X.509

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience with Data Architecture, Modeling, and/or Database Development

  • Experience with Open Telemetry, Java Agents, JMX, or similar monitoring tooling

  • Hands on experience with all of the following technologies: C++, GIT, Maven, Spring/Spring Boot, JMS, Kafka, Karaf, Camel, XML technologies, JSON/YAML technologies, APIs, container images, microservices, and Kubernetes

Typical Education & Experience:

Associate (Level 2)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master, 6 year's related work experience, etc.).

Mid-Level (Level 3)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience, 9 years' related work experience, etc.).

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range for Associate: $85,000 – $123,050

Summary pay range for Mid-Level: $108,800 – $157,550
