The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology has an outstanding opportunity for a Anatomic Pathology Technologist .

WORK SCHEDULE

  • 40 hours per week

  • Schedule: Thursday - Sunday: 7:00am - 5:30pm PST (10 hour shift)

  • Coverage for on-call hours; Saturday and Sundays plus holidays: 6pm - 7am PST (night shift) WHAT WE OFFER

  • A Bachelor's Degree with coursework in chemistry, biology and other biological sciences including microscopy AND certification, or certified within two years of date of hire, at the Technologist level by a nationally recognized certifying agency such as the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, the American Society of Clinical Laboratory Scientists or the Microscopy Society of America AND one year of clinical anatomic laboratory experienceOR

  • Equivalent education/experience

  • Desired: Knowledge on how to embed and cut histology samples PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform all the work of an Anatomic Pathology Technician

  • Train new hire in areas of histology and Immunohistochemistry (IHC)

  • Perform higher level duties pertaining to research, validation, titration and work up of new and current stains and methodology

  • Perform all technical aspects associated with Renal protocols

  • Set up, write new protocols and/or modify existing procedures in histology and Immunohistochemistry (IHC) following required standard operating procedures

  • Monitor all temperature readings of various instrument and reagents following manufacturer suggestions.

  • Assess new equipment and its performance following installation

  • Observe all safety practices in the laboratory following laboratory and departmental policies

  • Demonstrate ability to prepare the laboratory in all aspects of inspection by accredited agency such as CAP and JHACO.

  • Successfully navigate the laboratory network computer system in conjunction with completion of specific laboratory projects and metrics

  • Provide quality customer service to anyone needing Anatomic Pathology services
