The AIML team at Apple is building the next generation of Machine Learning models, and we are looking for people like you to come build Apple Intelligence with us! The Machine Learning Platform & Technology (MLPT) team in the AIML organization is seeking a Manager, Engineering Program Manager for its ML Lifecycle Platform. This platform enables the end-to-end machine learning lifecycle encompassing the build of tools, utilities and services for all the stages involved in developing, deploying, monitoring and maintaining ML models. ML lifecycle includes several key phases, each critical to building models that deliver actionable insights and value. We’re seeking a seasoned Manager, Program Manager to lead and oversee the end-to-end machine learning lifecycle across multiple teams. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the full spectrum of activities involved in understanding the developing, deploying, and maintaining machine learning models, from data acquisition to post-deployment monitoring. You will drive cross-functional collaboration across Apple and ensure that projects are executed efficiently, delivering high-quality machine learning models. You will partner with the engineering teams and other product/program managers across the org to drive and influence our ML Lifecycle roadmap for Apple's ML use cases. Description

  • As a key EPM of the AIML team, you will be responsible for establishing cross-functional partnerships with ML partners understanding their use cases and improve the ease of use of the compute services. - You will collaborate with the Apple’s AIML engineering teams to define a partnership strategy across the entire ML ecosystem including 3rd party public cloud, Apple’s internal cloud, silicon vendors, and OSS providers - We work with best in class engineering teams and developers across Apple to design the most efficient technologies to accelerate the ML lifecycle. You will be the trusted advisor to our customers to deeply understand their needs and help deliver low cost, high performance solutions that meet their use cases and business outcomes - Translate the product/program requirements to technical use cases helping to see around corners enabling risk mitigation for engineering execution through creating partnership roadmap for delivery. - Define new computing modalities using resources native to the cloud and take that vision to market in collaboration with internal and external partners. - Drive complete product life cycle from idea to development to go-to-market within Apple. - Support Engineering with use cases, platform architecture, software stack, and the total solution value proposition for ML Compute needs. - Interact with external ML Compute vendors, to ensure product success. - Ensure the program meets all specifications and key metrics. - Translate customer feedback and market dynamics into potential changes to ensure a differentiated product roadmap and communicate this to senior management

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of program management experience, with at least 5 years leading complex, technical programs in machine learning or data-driven environments.

  • Strong understanding of the end-to-end machine learning lifecycle, from data collection, data/model lineage to model monitoring, including MLOps tools and techniques.

  • Proven experience leading cross-functional teams and large-scale projects, ideally in Data, ML/AI or software engineering contexts.

  • Excellent communication and partner management skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business impacts.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving and risk management abilities, with experience in agile methodologies.

  • Ability to drive initiatives in fast-paced environments, balancing competing priorities and managing ambiguity.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including ability to explain sophisticated technical topics to non-experts

  • Familiarity or experience with MLOps frameworks and tools (e.g., Kubernetes, MLflow, Weights and Biases, vertex AI and so on).

  • Familiarity with cloud-based ML platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and model deployment strategies.

  • Background in Data, AI/ML, data science, or software development is a plus.

  • Strong desire to learn, skills for problem solving, and the ability to make sophisticated trade-offs.

  • Proficiency in multitasking and leading sophisticated programs with a track record in launching outstanding platforms to market.

  • Have led and scaled a team of product/program managers. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. Provided mentorship and career development opportunities to team members, ensuring they are motivated and equipped to meet their goals.

  • Experienced closely working with engineering leaders, data science teams, and other organizations to synchronize efforts and prioritize projects that improve product impact and value.

  • Self-motivated, independent, and proactive; demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities; can quickly (realtime) triage, prioritize, and lead cross-functional teams under pressure

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, including the ability to persuade and influence a diverse set of internal Apple and external public cloud partners

  • Responsible for the entire product development lifecycle from concept through launch and beyond.

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $190,200 and $285,900, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
