UW Libraries has an exciting opening for an Advancement Engagement Officer. This is a full-time, permanent position.

The Advancement Engagement Officer will play an important role on the UW Libraries Advancement team. Responsible for designing, developing and implementing donor-related communications, the Advancement Engagement Officer will also develop and manage annual events and appeals that encourage engagement and steward UW Libraries donors.

What You Will Do: Communications and Donor Engagement (65%)

• Develop and implement an annual donor and stewardship plan for Libraries Advancement. • Oversee, produce and align donor outreach and engagement opportunities with Libraries strategic fundraising priorities. • Generate appropriate, timely and accurate communications for donor audiences. Collaborate across Libraries to share stories of impact and success. • Develop content for digital and print materials, including appeals, web content, social media, spotlights and major stewardship reports. • Design and write impactful development materials, including case statements and one-pagers. • Create video communications, including ThankView videos, Husky Giving Day appeals and other donor stories. • Lead efforts to update and maintain the Libraries Advancement webpages. • Manage project timelines and content for digital and print communications. • In collaboration with the Libraries Director of Communications, measure the effectiveness of marketing strategies and recommend adjustments; ensure clarity of key messages in donor communications and materials. • Support the development of Libraries Advancement annual marketing plans and budgets. • Plan and direct the work of one student employee. • Occasionally work with freelance writers, designers, UW students and Libraries staff involved in outreach and event activities. • Coordinate with the Libraries Director of Communications and the University Marketing and Communications team on major gift announcements. • Ensure alignment of Libraries communication strategy and brand through consistent compliance of processes and timelines as defined by the Libraries Director of Communications. • Develop strong professional relationships with campus partners, students and outside vendors.

Events and Fundraising (30%)

• Develop, manage and execute an annual events plan for Libraries Advancement, focusing on activities that attract/encourage friend-raising, fundraising and major initiatives. • Serve as team lead for stewardship and cultivation events, including endowed lectures, Artist Images, and donor salon events. • Collaborate with the Libraries Communications team to produce event speeches for the Dean of University Libraries, Assistant Dean of Libraries for Advancement and/or other staff. • Work with the Advancement team, including UWAA and the Libraries team, to provide outstanding customer service to event guests and speakers. • Ensure event data is accurate and updated in donor database. • Monitor expense and revenue reports for accuracy and event ROI.

Other duties as assigned (5%) MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or a related field and at least two years of experience in communications, marketing, event planning, development, public relations, non-profit work, administrative roles or another related field.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. What You Bring:

• Demonstrated writing and editing skills, particularly for donor or philanthropic audiences; ability to write in a style and voice suitable for different audiences and functions. • Demonstrated experience in managing website design, editing and oversight. • Experience managing projects using digital content software tools to create/design, edit and publish content across various mediums (print, online, video). • Ability to plan, direct and monitor budgets for outreach activities and events. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative products. • Experience or familiarity with WordPress, Marketo, ThankView, Community Funded, CVENT and social media platforms. • Strong project management skills and ability to organize projects, accurately create timelines and priorities, problem-solve, seek assistance and provide updates, as needed, and take initiative to handle multiple projects using good judgment in a fast pace, dynamic, deadline-driven environment. • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility (DEIA); experience working to learn and share perspectives of minoritized groups and individuals. • Fundraising or alumni relations experience in a higher education setting. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. • Knowledge of libraries, development or advancement is a plus.

What You Can Expect:

• Cubicle/Open workspace environment. • Occasional working evenings and weekends for event support. • Physical event support will be required, including setup, tear-down and 4+ hours of walking/standing.
