Provide direct care and assume primary responsibility for clinical management of patients in ambulatory, operating room, emergency department, and inpatient settings. Obtain patient histories, perform physical examinations, order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, perform procedures, and develop treatment plans. Direct or participate in case management and continuing care. Collaborate, refer, and consult with department attending physicians, specialists, and other members of the health care team to deliver effective, efficient, safe, and high quality care. Contribute to organizational and departmental continuous performance and quality improvement projects. Participate in education and research efforts for patients, families, and the health care team.

This positions provides direct care and clinically manages patients in the Department of Orthopedics with a primary focus on providing care to patients with pediatric spine conditions. This position will focus on the evaluation and management of pediatric patients who have scoliosis and myriad other spinal conditions. There is opportunity for both strong partnership and collaboration with an Orthopedic Surgeon but also opportunity for autonomous clinical decision making. This APP will have the opportunity to work alongside the Department of Orthopedics as well as to collaborate with other specialists to provide comprehensive evidence based care.

Required Education and Experience

Master’s degree in nursing with a concentration in a pediatric, family, or neonatal nurse practitioner or physician assistant program.

One year of work experience in a pediatric or family focused clinical area.

Required Credentials

Active, unencumbered registered nurse and advanced registered nurse practitioner or physician assistant licensure in the State of Washington.

Current national certification as a pediatric or family nurse practitioner or physician assistant.

Active Drug Enforcement Authority registration.

Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) is required for Neonatal APP Leads.

As a condition of employment: Current BLS for Health Care Providers is to be maintained at all times by all nurses (NRP for Neonatology). Note: current PALS and/or PEARS will be accepted in lieu of BLS, and must be maintained as current at all times.

Employees are responsible for any costs (including time away from work) associated with obtaining PALS or PEARS certification if it is not a requirement of the position. (ACLS will not be accepted as a substitute to the requirements listed above.).

Active clinical privileges as an Allied Health Provider, Seattle Children’s Hospital.

Prior to start of employment, must obtain, and maintain in good standing, medical or allied health professional staff privileges that are not limited, revoked, suspended, conditioned, or probationary, except for normal probationary periods due to initial appointment.

All medical and allied health professional staff members are provisional for the first year.

Any and all medical or allied health professional staff privileges at Children's will terminate automatically upon the termination of the individual's employment at Children's.

Termination of employment does not prohibit the individual from seeking medical or allied health professional staff privileges at Children’s as a non-employee in any category for which the individual qualifies.

Preferred

Three years experience in a nurse practitioner or physician assistant role.

Two years experience in pediatric health care.

One year of leadership or health care management experience.

Compensation Range

$131,821 - $193,872 Annual USD

Salary Information

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
