Wireless Advocates Accounting Supervisor in SEATTLE, Washington

The Accounting Supervisor’s primary mission is to oversee and manage Accounting personnel, coordinate accounting processes with cross-functional departments, and manage internal and external financial reporting; ensuring cost center and management reports are accurate, timely and relevant to assist management. Provide cost center managers with performance inputs and cost containment strategies from review of company expenses. Develop and manage outbound accounting educational process for non-accounting team members within the Company.

Primary Responsibilities:

Manage and oversee Accounting team, ensuring all deadlines and tasks are done timely and with attention to high accuracy.

-Hire, develop and train accounting staff. Provide accounting education and support for cross-functional teams as necessary.

-Research authoritative literature for proper treatment of accounting issues and identify, working with the Assistant Controller, where compliance changes are required.

Manage, coordinate and oversee monthly, quarterly and yearly financial close processes. Ensure all cross-functional teams meet assigned deadlines and tasks as required for the close cycles.

-Review journal entries prepared by Accounting staff for appropriateness and compliance with GAAP.

-Review General Ledger coding of transactions for accuracy and compliance with GAAP during financial close review process.

-Coordinate analysis and documentation of monthly actual to budget variances in the financial review process with cost center managers.

-Review and distribute monthly cost center management responsibility reports to cost center managers. Work closely with managers to ensure information provided is useful for their management of cost centers and cost containment strategies.

-Ensure the accurate preparation of reconciliations for appropriateness, and coordinate implementation of corrections when required and follow up on all open items to ensure resolution prior to the next accounting period.

Prepare financial analysis for various internal and external reporting requirements as required.

-Manage, develop, coordinate and maintain financial reporting processes and procedures. Expand reporting and informational development as needed to address changing operational and strategic issues. Assist with regulatory and external reporting as applicable.

Maintain the General Ledger system. Make recommendations and develop internal controls around its use.

-Document key Accounting business processes. Make and implement recommendations for continuous process improvements.

Support and coordinate key components of yearly audits, state and federal tax audits as required.

Assist with special projects and additional duties as assigned.


-Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred.

-Minimum of five or more years of accounting-related experience and a firm understanding GAAP.

-CPA a plus.

-Prior supervisory or management experience a plus.

-MS Excel and Word proficiency.

-Detail-oriented with a priority of accuracy.

-Excellent verbal and written communications.

-Ability to communicate effectively using tact and courtesy.

-Good organizational skills with a proactive and positive attitude.

-Work well in an interactive team environment.
