EnviroIssues Accounting Associate in Seattle, Washington

We work primarily in Washington and Oregon, with offices in Seattle and Portland. *The Role *

This role requires two years of relevant experience in payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. This role will be a key member of our accounting team that will support compliance and smooth operation of the department. This is a hybrid or in-person role based in our Seattle office; the successful candidate will be expected to work at our office at least 1-2 days per week.  

In this role, you will:

  • Prepare biweekly payroll and all associated reporting 
  • Draft and review client invoices on a monthly basis
  • Partner with the team to ensure timely payment of client invoices 
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording and payment of vendor invoices and payments, including classification of expenses according to GAAP, internal policies, and external auditor requirements 
  • Collect and maintain vendors' tax information for accurate 1099 reporting 
  • Data entry into Excel spreadsheets and our accounting software, Deltek Vantagepoint 
  • Maintain an electronic filing system of invoices, payments, and other records in compliance with internal, contractual, and regulatory agencies' record retention policies
  • Receive and sort accounting mail, ensuring internal controls are maintained and external agencies requirements are met
  • Prepare bank deposits and process electronic deposits 
  • Cultivate and maintain excellent professional relationships with our clients, vendors, and internal teams 
  • Provide prompt customer service to staff requests
  • Contribute accounting and audit support as needed
  • Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned

*Required Qualifications *

  • At least 2 years of accounting experience in the following areas:
    • End-to-end payroll processing from timesheets to reporting
    • Accounts Payable duties
    •  Accounts Receivable duties
  • AA degree in Accounting
  • Demonstrates proficiency in Office 365 including Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, and Word
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including creating pivot tables and using advanced formulas such as VLOOKUP.

*Desired Qualifications * 

BA degree & working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint 

Demonstrates excellent communication and customer service skills
