The Opportunity with Emerald:

We are currently seeking an Accountant to work on Emerald’s growing portfolio of properties. The successful candidate will provide accurate, efficient accounting services to Emerald’s clients, working directly for the Controller. To keep operations and accounting running smoothly, you will have the following responsibilities:

Accounts Payable

  • Process corporate vendor invoices, such as mortgages and insurance, for review and approval.

  • Distribute Operations invoices, such as security and maintenance for processing.

  • Timely processing of vendor payments.

  • File accounts payable documents.

  • Process development/construction project invoices and pay applications.

Accounts Receivable

  • Post ACH receipts to accounting system.

  • Deposit and post manual receipts to accounting system.

  • File accounts receivable documents.

  • Prepare tenant charges for review and approval.

Month-End Closing

  • Month-end close procedure including:

  • Bank reconciliations

  • Journal entries

  • Generate financial reports from accounting system.

Support

  • Assist in generating and distributing various accounting system reports.

  • Prepare requested documentation to support financial data.

  • Produce and support the development of financial and other reports outside the accounting system.

  • Learn and support the management of accounting and owner file structures.

  • Learn and support preparing, and processing investor distributions.

  • Manage and distribute incoming mail.

  • Handle incoming inquiries from vendors regarding outstanding payments and other matters.

  • Develop relationships with internal/external customers.

  • Carry out other duties as assigned.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

  • Experience with above responsibilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience

  • Minimum two (2) years general accounting experience required

  • Intellectually curious and desire to learn

  • Willingness to diagnose and solve problems

  • Resourceful self-starter

  • Positive and proactive communication

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) required

  • Working knowledge of SharePoint and Adobe Acrobat preferred

  • Familiarity with automated accounting software preferred

  • Willingness to work in person at the office a minimum of two (2) days per week

T he pay range for this position is $55,300 - $97,700 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
