DescriptionResponsibilities and Duties:Trains and oversees tracking/compliance of HR & hotel initiatives to include sexual harassment, human rights, guest service recovery and other trainings as set forth by Corporate, Marriott and the hotel.Consults with department managers to determine areas where training may be required to boost performance. This includes mapping out an effective training plan and schedule.Prepares and conducts monthly New Hire Orientation to include Marriott Brand Standards, Corporate standards and hotel information as required. Instructs new employees in completion of necessary paperwork. Visually reviews documents for accuracy.Conducts Safety trainings to ensure a safe work environment and minimize work related injuries.Oversees filling available positions in order for hotel to function with a complete staff by following the recruiting standards, immigration, and EEOC guidelines in a professional and expedient manner.Maintains responsibility for and properly handles all UKG functions to include requisition process and managing Recruiting and Onboarding.Conducts telephone and written reference checks on qualified applicants by asking their previous employer(s) questions to gather information such as a previous employee's performance and attitude in order to assist in making a hiring decision.Processes paperwork including hiring documentation organizes and maintains position records.Extends job offers contingent upon passing background check by calling the qualified candidates on the telephone and explaining the procedure.Prepares and distributes weekly typed list of positions.Consults with department managers as to current openings and status of interviewed candidates.Ensures all records are filed correctly and are retained for the required length of timeMaintains employee personnel files, ensuring all required information is included in all files and is separated appropriately as confidential, personnel and maintains order and neatness for miscellaneous binders such as I9, EEO and Safety.Presents information regarding benefits open enrollment or changes of benefits to the staff to ensure all options and the differences are communicated properly.Plans, organizes and conducts employee engagement functionsAssist with various research projects and/or special projectsMay screen and interview applicants for positions.May participate as a safety committee member.Performs other duties as assignedSpecific Job Knowledge and Skills:The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.* Some knowledge of EEOC and employment laws, especially in relation to Washington.* Ability to work under strict deadlines.* Ability to sit for long periods of time.* Ability to train a team with a positive and confident demeanor.* Ability to remain professional and polite when dealing with difficult situations and be able to understand topics from multiple points of view in order to locate the best option/answer.* Ability to showcase emotional intelligence and have the hotel and always associates best interest in mind.* Ability to read and speak the English language fluently.* Ability to effectively deal with employees and applicants, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger and collect accurate information.Other Supportive Functions/ Expectations:In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of
