Role Summary

This role is responsible for executing the strategy for the Charter Program at Alaska Airlines (AS). As a people leader, the Manager Charter Operations leads and establishes priorities for the team to ensure the safe and timely execution of charter related non-routine flight operations.

Key Duties

  • Lead team and establish priorities of the charter program, including an annual budget, training, and program irregularity reporting.

  • Provide input in the strategy of the structural leadership and organization of the Charter Operations Program in partnership with charter operations specialists, network operations control (NOC), flight operations, inflight, and charter sales.

  • Oversee the execution of Charter Operations ensuring company and regulatory compliance.

  • Contribute to and execute the long-term strategy and planning for charter load coordinator training and ensure adequate staff is trained to meet the needs of the operation.

  • Create, maintain, and make decisions on standard operating procedures for charters ensuring compliance with all regulating entities and maintains operational requirements for the Civil Reserve Air Fleet commitment.

  • Establish financial and operating metrics to analyze performance of charter operations.

  • Leverage today’s standards and evolving tools and technologies to proactively discover ways to evolve our processes to improve reliability and scalability.

  • Develop people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on delegation for stretch assignments, growing and developing the team for capacity and growth, looking at performance across the team, and time management.

  • Drive effective diversity, equity and inclusion practices to build a culture of belonging while actively supporting and executing on the company’s D&I initiatives, goals and commitments.

  • Partner with NOC to manage Spire contract, including tracking offline diversions, maintaining training and process alignment between airline and vendor, execution of the annual plan, and adherence to all regulatory requirements.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 5 years of experience in airport operations, or related area.

  • 2 years of leadership experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.

  • A valid passport and a willingness to travel throughout the Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air system including international travel.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

  • Strong interpersonal and communication (e.g., verbal, written, presentation) skills, with the ability to create collaborative relationships that drive outcomes in the best interest of the company, with others in the organization, and with key external business partners.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • 3 or more years of charter experience.

Salary Range

$113,200 - $169,800 / year

Total Target Compensation Range (incl. bonus & equity)

$124,520 - $186,780

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
