Role Summary

The Director Training Delivery sets the long-term strategy and oversees the financial performance of the airport and cargo training delivery operation for Alaska Airlines (AS) and Horizon Air (QX). As a people leader, this role establishes strategic goals and direction for training and studio operations.

Key Duties

  • Establish strategic goals and direction for a team of training delivery specialists, instructors, and video/production specialists spread across multiple locations.

  • Set long-term strategy for training delivery with a 12-month horizon.

  • Develop people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on fostering strategic and systems thinking, development of talent, and succession planning.

  • Shape culture of the team through action, presence, and reinforcement of behaviors.

  • Set standards and expectations for world-class training delivery and studio/video operation standards and holds those teams accountable to those standards.

  • Develop and manage budget for the training delivery and studio operations ensuring rigorous financial discipline and focus.

  • Partner with Director of Training Development & Support and Director of Policies & Procedures to ensure feedback loops are effective and support continued quality improvement.

  • Drive effective diversity, equity and inclusion practices to build a culture of belonging while actively supporting and executing the company’s DEI initiatives, goals and commitments.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • A minimum of 8 years of airline operational and/or training experience.

  • A minimum of 5 years of leadership experience, with at least 2 of those years directly leading people.

  • A Bachelor's degree or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.

  • Experience leading cross-divisional projects, delivering on time and within budget.

  • Ability to set strategy and develop and monitor action plans to execute that strategy.

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to negotiate win-win solutions across divisions and customer groups.

  • Ability to learn new subjects quickly and bring others along with change.

  • Ability to lead with passion, humility and fierce resolve and an ability to think and work beyond divisional boundaries.

  • Strong communication (e.g., verbal, written, presentation) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to create collaborative relationships that drive outcomes in the best interest of the company, with others in the organization, and with key external business partners.

  • Detailed oriented and highly organized, with ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Previous teaching experience.

Salary Range

$157,700 - $252,300 / year

Total Target Compensation Range (incl. bonus & equity)

$205,010 - $327,990

Salary Details

The pay range and total target compensation package listed above is the expected pay offered for this position at the start of employment. Your pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, your relevant experience/level, experience level, and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

Note: We don't typically hire at the top of the range.
