Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking a Dangerous Goods Data Steward s (Level 2 & 3) to join to join its Transportation, Warehousing, and Logistics (TWL) organization in SeaTac, Washington and Seattle, Washington.

The Dangerous Goods Data Steward must effectively communicate with customers internally and externally via phone and electronic channels while adhering to Boeing expectations. This role supports enterprise transportation and logistics across all business units and transportation modes, critical to the supply chain health, enabling production, and meeting critical program needs.

Joining Transportation, Warehousing & Logistics (TWL) will introduce you to the company’s many operations requiring logistics support; especially the shipment of dangerous goods. This role supports both Boeing Military and Commercial Programs. Travel is required to other Boeing and Supplier locations. Position Responsibilities:

  • Helps define and create the process to review parts for Dangerous Goods (DG) classification.

  • Gathers, interprets and integrates business information requirements and coordinates change activities.

  • Develops and implements business architecture based upon information requirements.

  • Monitors and performs quality control actions relating to business information.

  • Administers and monitors systems post-implementation.

  • Provides end-user support to include immediate system/data guidance, FAQ management, issue analysis, and training design and delivery.

  • Determines the UN Number, Proper Shipping Name, Hazard Class, and Packaging Group.

  • Evaluates, classifies and develops packaging instructions for hazardous materials.

  • Under general supervision, maintains employee awareness for hazardous materials (dangerous goods) general familiarization, function specific, and safety requirements by providing walk-through support to meet federal and international regulations.

  • Plans the markings, labeling, packaging, and documentation for shipments in compliance with Federal, State, and International regulations.

  • Reviews shipments to verify compliance with Dangerous Goods Regulations.

  • Prepares shipping papers and signs DG declarations as needed.

  • Oversees the training and compliance for the implementation of HM-232 (Hazardous Materials Security Plans) for the receiving, storing and shipping of hazardous materials.

  • Provides logistics support analysis by applying established company policies and procedures in accordance with domestic and international laws.

  • Enters part data in Boeing shipping database.

  • May occasionally interact and present to high level organizational leadership.

  • Travels to conduct Dangerous Goods compliance audits of Boeing and its Service Providers.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 1+ years of experience working with Microsoft Office ( Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • 1+ years of experience using professional written and verbal communication skills to achieve deliverables

  • Must be willing to travel 10% of the time or more as needed

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3 + years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in dangerous goods, regulations and assessments

  • 1+ years of experience processing dangerous good shipments for both surface and air

  • 1+ years of experience reading & understanding engineering drawings and specifications

  • 1+ years of experience Some experience working with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) system (SolidWorks, NX Unigraphics or Catia)

  • 1+ years of experience with 49 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) Transportation of Dangerous Materials Certification

  • 1+ years of experience IATA/ICAO/FAA (International Air Transport Association/International Civil Aviation Organization/Federal Aviation Administration) Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certification

Typical Education/Experience:

Level: 2 Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+1 years' related work experience, 7 years' related work experience, etc.).

Level 3: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 6 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+4 years' related work experience, 10 years' related work experience, etc.).

Relocation:

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range (Associate): $76,000 - $82,000

Summary pay range (Mid-Level): $93,000 - $101,000
