Port of Seattle Procurement Officer I in Seatac Airport, Washington
Some of what you'll be doing:
As a Procurement Officer I, you will manage the bid desk and various aspects of the procurement process for recurring, high volume, and construction procurements required to maintain the Port of Seattle’s facilities.
You will review and process procurement requisitions, technical specifications/requirements, and transactions for complete and accurate information and ensure compliance with State and Federal law as well as Port policies, and procedures under the direction of higher-level Procurement Officers.
You will execute contracts and purchase orders within the delegated authority under the direction of higher-level Procurement Officers, assisting in the preparation and maintenance of procurement files.
You will troubleshoot budget codes, payments, and payment exceptions.
You will aid Procurement Officers in procurement activities and perform system and database maintenance across multiple financial and contract web-based systems.
You will work with users and vendors to resolve deficiencies and lack of performance during administration.
You will act as a liaison between departments and vendors/suppliers to facilitate procurements and payments.
You will assist in the review of independent costs and estimates, development of solicitation documents during the solicitation phase with addenda, proposal evaluation review, and source selection.
Who you are:
Experienced – You have three (3) months of general administrative work experience in support of procurement, contract development, or contract/grant administration.

Efficient Communicator – You possess excellent communication skills working with a wide range of diverse people both internally as well as externally. You have effective verbal, written, and active listening communication skills and can write concise, organized, and clear communications
Highly Organized – You have strong organizational ability and time management while prioritizing multiple competing deadlines/schedules, with the ability to maintain high ethical standards, strict attention to detail, and focus, despite frequent interruptions.
Analytical – You possess rudimentary knowledge in conducting market research and providing analysis to peers or clients, identifying service availability and market conditions, with attention to detail and accuracy. You can organize information, apply critical thinking to solve problems, and develop innovative solutions.
What else you need to know:
Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. You may be required to work any and all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays. You may be required to work during emergencies.
Work Environment - This work will take place in a hybrid/in-office setting at Management’s discretion.
Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
Overtime Eligible – You are eligible for overtime pay in this role.
Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.
