GENERAL SUMMARY

This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations while also facilitating strategic financial planning. The chosen candidate will be responsible for preparing and reviewing tax returns, analyzing financial data, and ensuring that all tax filings are completed accurately and on time. This role involves collaborating closely with various departments to gather necessary financial information and providing consultation related to tax implications of business decisions. The ideal candidate will possess robust knowledge of tax laws and a proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously. The Tax Accountant will also participate in audits, engage in tax research, and assist in implementing tax strategies that enhance the organization’s financial standing.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Tax Guidance/Compliance: Provide federal tax expertise to the agency by collaborating with Corporate Finance, Legal and other departments to gather information that may have tax implications. Conduct tax research and provide recommendations based on the research. Monitor changes in tax regulations and assess their impact on the agency’s operations. Develop and implement effective tax strategies to minimize liabilities and enhance compliance. Review and analyze financial statements to ensure tax compliance and accuracy of information.

Tax Reporting: Prepare and file federal tax returns accurately and timely to obtain direct payments under the Investment Reduction Act for production and investment tax credits. Prepare and file monthly state excise tax returns accurately and timely to ensure proper payments are made. Assist in the preparation for tax audits, gathering necessary documentation and responses, as needed.

Training and Education: Develop and deliver training to the agency on production and investment tax regulations as changes occur.

Must participate on the Emergency Response team (ERO) when designated.

Must support the biennial refueling outage.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or related field and 7 years’ progressive experience in an accounting position with an emphasis on federal tax compliance and reporting,

OR an AA degree with 9 years' progressive experience in an accounting position with an emphasis on federal tax compliance and reporting,

OR a high school diploma or GED and 11 years’ progressive experience in an accounting position with an emphasis on federal tax compliance and reporting.

A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university can be substituted for 2 years of experience. Experience in managing a project from beginning to end; strong understanding of federal and state tax regulations; proficiency with Microsoft Excel; analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicated findings effectively; detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision in all tasks.

Pay Range

$103,563.00 - $155,345.00 Annual

Midpoint:

$129,454.00

Typically, selected candidates are hired between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience and qualifications, market rate, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.

Offers will be negotiated based on each candidate's qualifications.

Incentive Compensation

This role may be eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan. Incentives are earned based on employee performance against defined metrics and company goals.
